C-Lovers Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Abbotsford

As a chef who was born and raised in Nova Scotia, I have certainly eaten my fair share of seafood, and yet its something I still crave and like most, and can't get enough of. If you have never eaten at C-Lover Fish & Chips in Abbotsford, you are missing out. Lets face it, its a simple dish loved and adorned around the world, yet it seems to be one of those dishes that far and few between ever master. For transparency, I do not know the owners or any staff, nor have I have eaten any dish from this delightful chain. Upon immediately walking through the doors, I "KNEW" this was going to be an awesome dinner. Bright, clean, open concept, plenty of room between tables and NO carpet! The buzzing sound of conversations in the packed full house (100+) it just screamed to you that the food has got to be great. How else could a Fish & Chips restaurant of this size be PACKED! Fish lovers from all walks of life and from as young as 3yrs to 70yrs, it was hopping. We were seated immediately, and our server was at our table in the same amount of record time. I was prepared to wait for our initial service being that it was so busy, however Mary our server was there under 3 minutes...and with an awesome enthusiastic willingness to get us going by taking our order. My colleague and I (another chef) each ordered the "All You Can Eat" for $14.95 and two non-alcoholic drinks. While waiting for our order, we each eagerly spent our waiting time focused on the army of kitchen staff and cooks preparing the outgoing dishes to other waiting clients. Their near military execution of preparing and cooking was flawless. Well orchestrated, constant movement in the prep area was flawless in the superbly designed kitchen. With 6 fryers working OT, these guys were producing orders and getting them to the tables piping hot. Something which is critical when it comes to deep fried foods and preventing it from turning into a grease sponges. Our dinners, like everything else here at C-Lovers arrived in what has got to be record time. And let me tell you, it was so hot, we had to wait for it to cool before digging in like to two cavemen who just returned from a failed hunt. We were starving. First impressions are everything. After all, we eat with our eyes first. We were blown away by the absolute pristine clean, clear oil. It was SPOTLESS. Our hand-cut fries looked like they hadn't even been cooked due to how clear and clean the oil was. This restaurant very clearly maintains some strict standards when it comes to replenishing oil that has turned dark, almost black and obviously is changing theirs out on a constant basis in order to maintain the quality of their products and dishes. The same goes for the fish. Spotless and something I know a lot of restaurants could learn to deal with more effectively and stop placing oil costs before food quality. With regular check ups from our wonderful, smiling waitress, we were so gobsmacked by the level of service, food and overall restaurant presentation. We simply could not find a single thing wrong with this restaurant. That is almost an impossible feat to obtain. We always find something that needs correction or updating. Recap: Seated immediately when the house was full. Quick service from the server team with regular check ups. Who hates being the forgotten customer who waits for service? Everyone. But not here. The food was fantastic, the cleanliness of the prep and cooking area was every food inspectors dream. Immaculate. 5 Thumbs up! If you are having a hankering for Fish & Chips, then there is no better place in Abbotsford to head to than C-Lovers Fish & Chips. We were also pleasantly surprised to discover they also have a location in Langley, amongst others, and we cant wait to head there on our next adventure. Do yourself a favour, take yourselves, your kids, your entire family to this restaurant. You will not be disappointed. With special mention again to Mary, we will be back. if not for the food, to see that big warm wonderful smile again.

I wanted to post the highest compliment and give the respect that is deserved for this amazing restaurant… The takeout special is our family’s favorite meal… it doesn’t stop at that, because the amazing leaders who make this mouthwatering food happen, each and every time that we ever order here, truly represent C-Lovers, Beyond words or pictures… You really need to go in and check out the amazing front and back end professionals at this South Fraser location in Abbotsford.

The most important part of my review, honestly needs to be about some of the elite chefs and amazing front end servers… Winston and his beautiful & amazing wife Corine have always treated us with such respect at all times… They’ve always gone above and beyond…making us food that is the cleanest, hottest, & greatest mouthwatering fish and chips, shrimp & salmon and so much more…They’re an amazing force of excellence to be reckoned with.

It’s my hope that the manager and CEO of this company will appreciate these great leaders and show them some respect,appreciation, commendation & promotion for their excellence, as they’re beyond deserving of this respect !

When Winston and his beautiful wife are not working…we are thankfully attended to by Mary…we are pleased to receive great service from Mary…who always care about us as customers, by providing us with their excellence in customer service and great tasting food… thank you everyone!

The words fish and chips,on the sign is a fraud, to cut a long and infuriating story short, anyone from the U.K would be upset to see the words fish and chips to describe this shop, as it's nothing like a chippy, this swill, not even a attempt to be authentic, the oil which the factory made potato products are cooked in is cloudy, filthy and burnt, avoid this place !! Like a lady commented lovely fries, chips are not fries !!!! My girlfriend felt sick awhile after eating the chips, when i spoke to the manager, i was told to stop the lies, phone put down in anger, passed around from employee to employee when subsequently calling back, so, Having a legitimate complaint, is just brushed off by the management, in fact, anger and dismissing the customer is the response, no redeeming factors of my visit to mention, if there was environmental health or trading standards as in the uk, the place would be in trouble for their activities, I would say it maybe a isolated incident, dirty oil etc, but, it's the so called managements in ability to manage the situation, that shows me it's a top...
