A very puby pub, 100% this place has a 1970s 1980s look and feel to it, alot of darkwood and brass all over the place and a multi level dinningroom with small sets of stairs everyplace
A drunks head injury waiting to happen... 😳🤣
And of course, the dartboards and pool tables. It was very quiet the night we went for dinner but I heard on the weekends they have live music and even karaoke 🎤 if it's your thing.
As for our visit, as I said, it was pretty quiet, and it appeared to me the customers there were mostly drinkers and not eating, so I was surprised at the fairly slow service we received after seating ourselves.
Our waitress was very friendly and chatty, doing a great job of informing us of the specials and happy hour as well as the weekend entertainment.
I ordered the steak sandwich, and my wife ordered pasta with salmon. For my part, the side fries were nice and crisp, and smoking mouth injury hot so at least they were nice and fresh. 👌
I ordered my steak sandwich medium well, but I'd say it came out far closer to being really well done than anything else and the steak itself had little to no actual seasoning, I think they depend far too much on the side of AP steak sauce to add flavor rather then seasoning the actual meat, the garlic bead however is quite tasty and they give you a fairly generous helping of mushrooms and onions as the topper.
My wife ordered the Alfredo pasta with added salmon. She found the Alfredo sauce to be pretty bland, but found the salmon spicy to which on the menu there was no indication.
All in all, while I didn't find the food particularly good, it's wasn't 100% terrible, either pretty standard for pub food.
I believe we'd be willing to come again, perhaps on an night with entertainment to give the menu...
Read moreWent there yesterday after a month vacation and the vibe definitely has changed. At first we were asked to leave as I didnt have ID which is fine because I live close by. Upon returning, new staff were whispering and staring at us from the corner and sent another server to us. That woman asked us both not to smile while she analyzed our IDs for a good full minute, (she made a point to tell me I had already had my "mug face" on) and it was very awkward and uncomfortable. The food came late, I added chicken to my pasta for $6 that was extremely dry and chewy on the edges but ice cold in the middle. The service was slow, the other two newer younger servers still continued to stare from a distance. After about 40 mins, we decided to go to the front for our bill as no one was coming by. The younger servers standing there didn't speak to us but again, just stared and whispered to our server to help us. The bill was about $70 for the two of us to get very uncomfortable service, weird atmosphere, poor quality food, and just an overall sense that we were unwanted. As I live close, I used to go there all the time for happy hour or comedy nights with no issues, but after this experience I won't be returning. I'm not sure if they've been in trouble for serving to people underage or if it's the newer staff, but it was definitely a very uncomfortable vibe and poor service when there was only 3 other tables inside. I don't expect much from a pub like this but our idea of a nice walk and meal here was not a good one, which is disappointing after coming occasionally for nearly a year now with no issues. Only positive was the ceasers were decent, but they should...
Read moreAttended April 26,2013 5pm for dinner. We came here because of the quick food service, your daily special menu, excellant cook Elena G. We were welcomed from the best of best waitress smiles at this pub Tricia(long blond hair, nail polish my wife liked) and got our food menu's right away when seated and drinks. I had a special Canadian beer, my wife had her usual cesar which she is fussy about the mix and prefers a bean, lemon in side, or crispy cellary stick. The mix okay but she did not like the soft cellery. So went and asked for another one and got the same, even I tasted it and very soft. So she just had one and mixed her self one at home. The meals came in very good timing. Our meals were great, thanks to Elena as I got extra tomatoes and a crispy salad and the fish done to perfection. Wifes Chicken salad also a very generous portion and chicken done just right. We enjoyed Tricia cheerful manner, and her asking if all well and needed any thing. The music and t.v. noise was fine as we sat upper level. I noticed older couple also came sitting near us and I would say this shows that the atmosphere area is well liked and comfortable. I would suggest as others have with us is that you have just some dessert so with special coffee's or other drink it just finishes off the meal and hits the spot!. We like the mature, pleasant, non pushy and nice casual dressed waitresses at this pub. Thanks for a great meal, drinks and relaxing setting for a Abbotsford...
