Oh boy. This was my first time trying this restaurant and I decided to try them based on how close they are to home. So much regret now. Welp, have been a vegetarian for so so many years, and had to eat mystery meat today. Ordered all vegetarian dishes including the gyoza. And the gyoza that was included was definitely NOT the vegetarian one :( it contained little ground up greyish prices of meat, not sure if it was pork or chicken or what, but it had the hard grisly cartilage bits and everything. Was this a mistake? A substitution? I have no idea but if it was a substitution due to being out of veggie gyoza then that’s really poor attention to detail because there was no other meat in any of the dishes in this order. So of course that totally ruined the whole experience and made me feel just sick to my stomach and horrified. Will never go back here, and in fact probably will be off sushi indefinitely. It never occurred to me to open the gyoza and check for meat. I have two regular sushi places that are my go-tos and this has never ever happened before. I’m just glad it wasn’t carelessness with a food allergy or something much more dangerous, but this for me is pretty disturbing and I’m just really upset. If you have food preferences or allergies, just please be careful eating here. I still gave two stars because the food was ready lightning quick and the people were friendly when I went in to pick up. But this place is an absolute hard no for me for ever going back to. Obviously didn’t finish anything, gave what was safe to give to the doggo and she seemed to...
Read moreKudos to the chefs for doing a great job and making great Sushi. The servers are a great disappointment though, 2 different incidents happened and alternate visits. First time the server was packing soy sauce for take out orders and accidentally some of the cups fell in the garbage and she quickly took them out and placed them in the tray. She realised that I saw and turned away. Upon asking, she said it hasn't happened before and continued to leave those cups in the tray to use them. Second time, the server accidentally gave my order on another table and before she could realise, the other table had already grabbed a piece from the plate. She quickly rushed to the table and grabbed the plate and walked to the billing counter and cleaned the paper with a napkin and brought the same plate back to me. I asked her to bring me a fresh plate and she started giggling because she realised that I saw when she did the whole act. I wish the place doesn't end up going out of business because of unprofessional behaviour of...
Read moreMy wife got food poisoning shortly after eating here, and we received zero apology or accountability from the staff. I called to speak with the manager, and her response was, “Well, it’s the same chicken we fed everybody and it’s fresh—so what do you want me to do?” I paused to tell my wife what she said and handed her the phone so she could explain what happened—at which point the manager hung up on her. When my wife called back, the manager tried to claim that we hung up.
Still no apology. No concern. Just denial.
My wife had the chicken yakisoba. There was a huge puddle of grease at the bottom, and some noodles were overcooked and stuck together in clumps. She only ate the parts that seemed okay, but ended up throwing up not long after.
I would strongly recommend avoiding this location. Instead, try Sushi Nara on Whatcom Road. The food is way better, the owners are different, and the staff...
