Let me explain the 4 stars. I used to work with my dad as a sub contractor. I might have mentioned it in past reviews. This work we did took us all over the lower mainland. Alot of times because we had to drive from place to place and the short time we had between sleep and leisure time. Lots of times we just ended up eating out. It's out of convenience.

Either way my father was also a very meticulous man. Some would say, as I would, he was extremely picky. But he was a HARD worker. He was a Mexican immigrant who used to Box in the 70s. Stopped because of an eye injury. But you could see his work ethic was impeccable.

I say all this to say wherever we went, I would try to scarf down the food. He would teach me and tell me slow down man. Eat your food. Savour it. Love it. Hahaha lol he literally told me tht 😂. He would joke but it would be with an air of truth because even if he was joking he actually meant it.

Needless to say we have been to ALOT of places. it takes alot to even impress us. But we take food as it is. A fast food joint is rated based on the parameters of fastfood. Likewise a restaurant like this is rated on quality, quantity, service, atmosphere.

Their one fault I would say is there sizes are actually in the bigger side. And honestly the culinary world is eh. You gotta do less in order to be considered "High class". Here they obviously don't care about that they care about just having class period. You have a chef who loves his craft and a woman next to him who's willing to help him and work just as hard as him. I can't give them 5 stars because compared to my number one place the quantities and quality is just below Toshi Sushi. Try it and you'll see.

But in 20 years of eating sushi. This is HANDS DOWN my number two favorite sushi of all time. Right next to Toshi Sushi.

The one photo I think it's the Vancouver island roll. Has salmon is oure seafood. Look at that roll closely. That's what makes me consider this man. A true chef at heart. He was willing to try something and then when you actually look at it. You realize Holy Shit even with mayo or mustard or something to bind. It's still impressive that he put that together and cut it WHILE it was all together.

You can't fake knife work. Either your good or your sloppy some places have jaggy edges along the salmon or tuna. That's what makes u see there chef is lazy. This chef is the one HARD worker just like my father. Along with his helper who I assume is his wife but I didn't ask. I'll ask next time I go in.

If there is one thing I would recommend they do is to actually make the menu a little bit smaller. TOO MANY options also hurts a restaurant and nothing shows you that more then watching Kitchen Nightmares. Time and time again the places that are able to maintain longevity in the restaurant business. Were places that could adapt and focus on a few items making them perfect and offering a small array of specials. That is where you experiment and try different ideas or recipes.

But I don't run a restaurant it's just things I have observed over and over again. This place is still amazing. I want it to survive. That's why I recommend making the menu smaller. Please let the owners know if you agree.

And please support these two. I think they deserve it. And their food is amazing and instantly made me remember the first time I ever ate sushi with my dad. He would have loved...

Owner is incredibly rude. I called for another order and he told me I had had enough and that he wasn't going to make me anymore food. Owner said I was inconsiderate because he wanted to relax and I kept asking him to make food. The quality is not very high either which ultimately matters most. The sunomono is cheap, the chef spends too much time flowering carrots and not enough time not knowing the difference between baby shrimp and lobster tail. The noodles are way to thick and the sweet vinegar is stale somehow. The fish is definitely not up to sushi standards, it tastes bland and freezer burnt. I ordered the salmon sashimi and the portion for the price is a bad joke sushi 9 will give you twice as much for the same price and it will actually be cut properly which it wasn't here. Gomae was okay though. The prices are way too high considering you have to be your own waiter. No tea or water is offered you have to get it yourself and the table when I walked in was still covered in dishes from the last customer. Total dive do not recommend. To the owner, if you don't want to run a sushi restaurant then don't, hire a chef and retire because you shouldn't be anywhere near the...

Was in the area and popped in on a whim with my sons. Pricing was extremely favorable, and we were pleasantly surprised of the quality of sushi we recieved. The rice was moist and seasoned perfectly. Cali rolls had a good composition and flavor, and the nigiri were fresh. The spicy tuna roll used a sweet chili, which usually isnt my preference, but still delicious. The miso soup mix they use is excellent, not too salty but bold, and served in a larger bowl than most other restaurants. The owner/chef was very friendly, and I very much appreciated the humble atmosphere. We only spent $40, but were stuffed, I wish I could have tried more.

The tea is self serve, and there's a charming collection of tea cups to use. There's some Lego as well for kids to play with if they choose.

Will definitely be back again if passing through the area. This place is surely a little gem where you would...

It has been a long time since I have been to Sushiteria, so I thought I would come back to see how they are. When I came on a late Friday afternoon, it was not busy at all, so finding a table was not hard. I ordered the Boka and Sushiteria sushi rolls for dinner. Both of the rolls were fantastic; the Boka was flavourful and very interesting since I have never had sushi with calamari in it before while the Sushiteria was pretty memorable with how content was packed in it. The establishment had a thrift store aesthetic while still having that Japanese touch to it. The service was top-notch; the staff were very pleasant and attentive to your needs. My only nitpick is that I would have to leave the restaurant and go to the back to use the washroom. Besides that, Sushiteria is an excellent Japanese restaurant that I look forward to dining at again.

This sushi restaurant is what you would call a real sushi restaurant. The owner was very nice and the food was just so good. Normally when I go to other sushi restaurants I have to order 2 prawn tempura but in this restaurant I only needed to order 1 to fill my appetite. The prices are very good and affordable. I would really recommend this sushi restaurant. 😋 Also the free green tea is very delicious.
