We Always order skip the dishes from this restaurant and try to support local Airdrie business owners ahead of larger chains etc. We are regular frequent customers but no more. I would suggest after reading this review you decide if this is a business you want to spend your hard earned money on. We ordered skip the dishes as usual with a pre total of $51 for the order (cost of food) before tax, delivery charge and tip to the driver. All in all $60. Wife is pregnant and has a favorite dish the chicken alfredo. Unfortunately chicken is not an option currently as it bugs her stomach and she usually switches the chicken for prawns. Many other brands do this at no charge and we have done this previously with Il Forno and no issues. After we ordered we notice the order wasn't confirmed initially and then someone from Il Forno called us. He was apparently the "chef/owner" and has the audacity to basically tell us hey you cant keep getting the prawns for chicken like before and that they basically did us a "favor" before and it would be another $4. The crazy thing is this same person also mentioned how they are aware we are regulars and basically made me feel like I'm trying to scam them. The attitude of this "chef/owner" was very arrogant and mentions he has a "very busy" night going on yet has time to personally call me the paying customer to say this. Highly unprofessional. Operate your business like a professional. You have options to communicate and set pricing via skip the dishes. If you have no issue previous the guests assumes no issues. Brewsters does this with no issues. Obviously this restaurant and ownership are doing very well and dont need our hundreds of dollars of business from hard working Albertans. For some reason he was "very suprised" when I told him to cancel my entire order. I would suggest Ferraro Truly Italian they care about your hard...

This was our first visit and unfortunately we won't be returning to this restaurant. When we arrived, we were the only one of two parties in the restaurant. I was advised that the pizza I ordered might not come out at the same time as my spouse's food (but would be within a few minutes either before or after). Well, spouse was half way done his meal before I got the pizza. Then the restaurant started to get very busy. This was a Saturday night and honestly should be expected/planned for. The lady running the place (seemed to be manager as well as only waitress) seemed overwhelmed and they were obviously understaffed. Ok, I can appreciate that sometimes things happen but how it's handled is important..... first the person from the kitchen came out and took my husband's glass from the table to wash as they had no more glasses (?). Then we sat there for 1 HOUR after we had finished eating, waiting for someone to come back to the table so that we could get a pizza box and pay for the meal. No one came. The only time that we saw someone was when our meal was dropped off. No other drinks offered, didn't check on us, and we couldn't get the bill/take out box to leave (finally managed to grab the guy from the kitchen and asked for a box). After waiting longer to see if waitress/manager would come to the table, we went to the front where she finally noticed us. This was the most uncomfortable dinner that I have ever had. I hope that they can make improvements in future but unfortunately they won't be receiving any more of my hard...

Tonight would have been my second time ordering and we were going to try a couple of baked pasta dishes. But needed something vegan for my son… I called just before 9pm to order, and needed to check if the minestrone soup was vegan for him. The lady that answered the phone was incredibly rude right off the bat, like I was a horrible inconvenience to her. Although she didn’t want to, and actually let out a huge sigh like I was so annoying (after maybe 20 seconds), she “checked with the kitchen” and quickly came back to say it’s a vegetable soup (lol obviously- which I already knew, just needed to know if there was any chicken broth in it which I had initially inquired). She ignored my request and asked if I wanted it or not. When I said can’t risk giving chicken broth to my son who’s been vegan for years, and can I please speak to the kitchen myself, she got very annoyed and said they’re too busy and in the middle of dinner rush (at 9pm when they close at 10??). Nonetheless with her attitude we did not order and will never be back, even though we live just around the corner. Only reason for giving two stars instead of one is because the first time the food was decent, the man who took our order was incredibly helpful and even told us many dishes could be customised to be vegan. It’s a pity they have such a rude...

I’m sorry but I do not get the hype with this place - do people in Airdrie just not know what good food is? We just ordered from skip tonight and the food was god awful. We got the fettuccini Alfredo, carbonara and the calamari. Firstly, the food was all cold and completely flavourless. When I opened the fettucini the chicken was white and it was just White sauce with noodles - absolutely no seasoning what so ever. It looked like they just mixed noodles, boiled chicken and cream. Im glad we had Parmesan cheese cause I had to dump almost half the bottle on top to get any kind of flavour. My husband said the carbonara was very similar and had hard noodles. Lastly, the calamari - ugh! It was bland, cold, chewy and WET and soggy. The breading was falling off because of how soggy it was. I cannot recommend this place and will never ever eat here again. When easy side Mario’s is better… there’s a problem.

The change from Il Forno to Big Sals has been absolutely incredible. The difference is night and day. We loved it Before but over covid it went downhill as you could tell items were being short cutted and frozen. Now the new changes show nothing other than fresh and home made recipes. A true taste of Italy. Everything was amazing, we absolutely love the new ownership. The food has improved immensely and we can't wait to return. Go on weekends to listen to the live music which is lovely and service by Kayte is phenomenal.

This was our first time at Sal’s and we can’t wait to return. Food was extraordinary and they make you feel very welcome. Atmosphere was very inviting and made us feel like it was authentic Italian. Even though they were short staffed tonight, as they weren’t expecting a full house, the server did her very best and beyond. I suggest that everyone make a reservation on a Saturday night so that they do not get too overwhelmed and to cut down on the wait times. I am happy to know that we have this restaurant in Airdrie!
