When I got there around 7:30 on a Thursday, the place was super busy. There was not enough staff, so the couple in front of me and I waited 10 mins at the register while they played catch up with all the orders before they even took ours.
I ordered a double cheeseburger with mayo, ketchup, onion, tomato, jalapeño peppers, and grilled mushroom for my wife and a bacon cheese dog with onions and ketchup for myself for takeout. With a poutine and fries, and I tipped a small amount since the kids looked like they were working hard, came out to be about $42.
It was a long wait because they were busy, so I was looking at my receipt. It looked like they had missed the cheese on the order for the burger. They hadn’t charged me for it , so whatever. I didn’t want to have to go through with the hassle of having to pay for the difference to change it when they were so busy.
We eventually get our food and head home. The bacon cheese dog is tiny. For $8, I was at least expecting a Costco sized hot dog. Instead, you get a 0.75 cent ikea dog, cut into two halves lengthwise, smushed down into tin foil. They also did not put cheese on it, even though I was charged for it on my receipt. Horrible value when it’s correct, even worse when they mess it up.
My wife opens her burger and on top of the incorrectly placed order that lacked cheese, they had put 3 Patties on the burger and green peppers for some reason. She hates green peppers, but whatever, she just picked them off.
She had violent food poisoning last night. I didn’t have any of her burger, so we’re assuming it’s that.
If you’re fine waiting a long time just to get a variation of what you ordered and some food poisoning, eat here. I’ll probably just go to the other burger place in this plaza next...

The worst ever fast food experience I've ever had in 45 years I've just made a complaint to their corporate office which was equally frustrating and pointless...
This brand is fat, lazy, unhelpful and overpriced... I ordered my food ahead on the telephone turned up on time to be told we haven't received your order and often don't receive telephone orders because the systems are all broken... I called the ordering system they have no way of contacting a store (lol) and can't elevate anything to a manager... this is an utterly pointless process the food's kind of overrated anyway and let's be honest without the free peanuts while you wait ...who cares? I will never ever be going back to five guys you've lost a 15-year client... Your Ajax location unfortunately is staffed by absolute ignoramuses... Not one of your staff members could make eye contact, walk faster than a snail's pace, speak in anything other than a hardly audible grunt... And I felt literally every word I said needed repeating and translating... if they just paid attention they might be able to understand... I know these jobs aren't the best in the world but seriously there's jobs everywhere go get a job you enjoy for God's sake... Feels like you have a hiring policy at this store is get the stupidest lowest IQ folks you can... I've yet to see the same staff...

I was just at the Ajax location at 9:30pm and thought it was going to be a regular in and out order. While I was waiting for my food, I noticed one of the workers drop a hamburger bun with cheese on a receipt roll instead of the foil intended for food.
Thinking, okay, she made a mistake. She carried it over to the stove area while I assumed she was going to make another one. No ma'am, she waited 2 minutes and brought back the same bun and placed it on a different foil to make it look like it was a different bun she had prepared.
There were only 2 people waiting for their order; myself and another gentleman, and it was his food that she did this too. Once I noticed she didn't actually change the bun, I alerted the gentleman, and he thought the same thing but wasn't sure. I asked her if she changed the bun, and she proceeded to smile and say no. Words were exchanged, and the woman took no accountability until more workers (assuming her supervisor) came over, and it was mentioned, "You wouldn't do that to your mother.".
If you own this Five Guys location in Ajax, I urge you to look at your security cameras on 2025-01-04 from 9:30-9:55pm specifically in the food prep area and check the staff working that shift.
She also mentioned that it was okay because the receipt was food...
