I recently had lunch with my family at Afghan Cuisine. I am deeply disappointed with the experience. Despite the food being decent, the customer service left much to be desired. We spent more than a hundred dollars, yet the staff were incredibly stingy and unhelpful. They did not even care to ask us if everything was fine with the food.
From the moment we walked in, it felt like the staff had an attitude especially the female waitress with chiseled looks as well as the man with the beard and baseball cap. Simple requests for extra napkins, water, lemon slices, or containers for takeout sauces etcetera were met with reluctance and a lack of courtesy. It was as if we were asking for too much, which is not what I expect when dining out, especially at a place that prides itself on Afghani hospitality.
I’ve always believed that Afghani hospitality is among the best in the world, known for being warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, our experience at Afghan Cuisine at this location was quite the opposite. The service was cold, unwelcoming, and far from the hospitable nature I’ve heard so much about. This not only ruined our meal but left us feeling upset and disheartened. They were very quick and efficient to charge our payment method though.
I hope this review helps others understand the kind of service they might encounter at Afghan Cuisine. It’s important to know that while the food might be okay, the poor customer service can significantly impact your overall dining experience. I genuinely hope the management takes steps to improve their service and live up to the true essence of Afghani hospitality !!!
UPDATE ON MOST RECENT VISIT BELOW.
ZERO Star
My experience at this restaurant was appalling, especially considering my previous poor visit. The food is decent, but the customer service is severely lacking.
During my recent visit, an employee wearing a hijab and glasses with an Indian accent took it upon herself to open my bag without permission and remove items that were incorrectly packed. This was done with no explanation or apology. When I called to complain, she was unhelpful and dismissive and even questioned me why I would like to speak to the manager. The items in question were 2 extra boxes of salad which she could have just given me out of goodwill since it was their mistake to have packed it incorrectly. They totally did not follow the correct customer centric protocol and procedures to remove items from a customer's packed and knotted plastic bag infront of the customer. This restaurant and their management is truly selfish and stingy for small things to say the least when the customer regardless, is paying for their business and salaries!!
Additionally, the other staff member, who seemed to have a middle eastern background, was rude and unprofessional. When I requested an itemized receipt, she responded with an attitude, saying she had just come to work and didn’t want to be bothered. The manager I spoke with was equally unhelpful and refused to provide his name or address my concerns properly.
The disregard for customer service and proper protocol at this restaurant is shocking. While the food might be acceptable, the poor service and disrespect make it hard and almost impossible to recommend. I strongly advise others to think twice before dining here as it will surely leave a TERRIBLY bitter aftertaste which may ruin the rest of...
Read moreI recently had an extremely disappointing experience and I feel compelled to share my dissatisfaction. My evening started with high hopes, but unfortunately, the restaurant's refusal to accommodate me for dining in left me frustrated and disheartened.
First and foremost, I was astounded when I arrived at the restaurant well before its closing time of midnight, only to be informed that I couldn't dine in. It's important to note that I had made efforts to arrive on time, expecting to enjoy a relaxing meal at the end of a long day. However, the staff's unwelcoming and unhelpful attitude left me feeling like an inconvenience rather than a valued customer.
Furthermore, the prices were exorbitantly high compared to other establishments in the area, such as the more reasonably priced Bamiyan. I couldn't help but notice the significant disparity in both the quality of the food and the value for money. It was disheartening to realize that I was paying a premium for a subpar dining experience.
What struck me the most during my visit was the abysmal customer service. The staff displayed a complete disregard for basic courtesy and failed to meet even the most basic expectations of hospitality. Their dismissive attitude and lack of concern for my inconvenience were truly disheartening. It's unfortunate to see a restaurant that seems to prioritize profit over customer satisfaction.
I cannot recommend based on my recent encounter. The refusal to accommodate my dining request, the exorbitant prices, and the overall disappointing customer service left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I hope that management takes these criticisms to heart and works toward improving their operations and treating their customers with the respect they deserve.
It's important to note that everyone's experience may differ, and this review reflects my personal encounter. However, based on my own observations and interactions, I find it difficult to see Afghan Cuisine as anything more than an establishment that falls short in multiple aspects.
I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the restaurant, prompting them to reassess their practices and strive for better customer experiences...
Read moreFood is excellent but we've received the wrong orders several times. We order through Skip the Dishes which provide clear instructions for food packaging. We've paid for extra sauce and not received it on three occasions. One time we received meat in our dish and had to give it away because we don't eat meat. I checked the order through Skip and no meat was added to the order. It is typically a vegan dish, adding veal shank is something you would pay more for. We called to speak to a manager and were on the phone with a man, he did not give his name. The conversation was cordial, we were calling to let him know about preparation issues and were not looking for a free meal. However he said we would get 50% off our next order since we've had issues with four of our orders. We gave our name so there would be no issues when we ordered next. We order every week so we ordered again through Skip, and listed instructions on the order about the discount so they'd know in advance. We spoke to the manager/owner Mohammed, who claimed we never spoke to him, didn't know if other men worked for him who would've been the ones to promise half off, but eventually called one other guy in the back who claimed he never promised this to us. He said we had to take it up with Skip, that it was a problem with Skip, that he pays them 30% and that he wouldn't be making any money off of our order. Totally understandable that this would worry him, but his objection that it was not his employees responsibility to fulfill the order but an issue with Skip the Dishes... was just irresponsible. We asked for the number for Head Office, he said there wasn't one, so here we are. At the end of the day it's not about the discount but about the promise to make up for preparation issues and then purporting that we never had that conversation at all, when the man we spoke to on the phone said he was the manager. Whether it was him or the other male employee he called, someone lied along the way. I sound like my own mother, but that one meal lost him a...
