House Of China — Restaurant in Ajax

Worst experience ever!!! We decided to try something new in the area. We ended up reading the reviews on this establishment and decided to give it a shot....the food was 15 minutes later than they said it would take, but that was fine since it was Fathers Day. But when we got home and tried the food it was simply the worst food I have had. There was a weird smell and the taste was extremely funky. I decided to call them back and ask for a refund and even offered to bring the food back so that they could try it. They said since I already took a bite of the food I can not return it. My question back was " how would I know if there was anything wrong unless I took a bite?" When the rude lady asked her manager again they said, at this point there is nothing you can do, we can not give you a refund since you already took a bite. When I asked again, do I have any options, she again said "no, there are no options, you are stuck with the food." I think this was the worst customer experience I have ever had and will ensure I will not go back. The one thing they failed to realize is that I work for the town of Ajax and will ensure that I will let anyone I can know this is a place...

If less than one star was possible that would be my rating! Well how to I begin?

Let me just start by saying that I did not order from them tonight.

A vehicle pulled in my driveway and I thought nothing of it initially thinking that it was probably some delivery for the basement (which it ended up being). The delivery driver came to our door, hey mistakes happen, but instead of knocking she opened up our door held it open until we were beyond yelling at her to shut it while trying to prevent two huskys from escaping our house!

Like I said, I get that mistakes happen but who opens someone's door like that!?

Especially through a pandemic!

When we spoke to the manager they first said that our order is on it's way without even knowing an address! We then told her that we didn't order anything and told her what had happened and to no avail just said "oh the woman yeah she makes mistakes". What type of service is that!?

Opening someone's door is completely unacceptable and dangerous for the occupants of a household and the delivery person! This business clearly doesn't care to pay any attention to detail whatsoever!

Ordered 2 egg rolls, beef chow mein, combo F.

egg rolls were nothing special but edible beef chow mein was good and made in the style I like it, it was pleasant surprise but nothing special. Meat was very chewy and not soft and velvety like it should be combo F came with huge portions, the chicken was to sweet for my taste but upset my stomach.

Update 1: 2nd time ordering - missing my egg rolls

Update 2: Ordered again through Uber because I had a coupon and it only worked on this Chinese place well I ordered a Beef Cantonese chow mein and they sent a regular Cantonese chow mein. lol I have a shrimp allergy 😂

This is the second issue I’ve had with this place. So disappointing

Was corrected and tasted really good.

Update 3: I keep coming back since it’s the only place for quick beef Cantonese chow mein. Happy to say they made up for the missing egg rolls and order issues by giving me 2 extra egg rolls.

Got the hot and sour soup this time - was really really good...
