My family & I have been eating at this place for years! I noticed since they got new owners the customer service is not to par especially after my visit last saturday! We had asked the owner about having a reception for our upcoming wedding renewals & he told us that if I have 20 or more we can use the upstairs room at no cost & I we were thrilled. We put down a deposit a couple of months before & last friday came in to decorate & put our name plates for our guests just to find out they had set the tables but hadn't yet vacuum or had sent up the table we had requested to put our cake on! the day of our reception Jan 6th 2018 we arrive & requested to the female owner & her daughter to take white & red wine which we choice their house wine & ask each of my 4 guest per table which one they prefer & the older lady decided to ignore my request & proceeded to take individual wine orders & didn't even ask my guess white or red with the bottles in hand! then if that wasn't bad enough they didn't cover the soup for us & our guests and because it's a long way up stairs & very drafty our soups were room temperture if that wasn't bad enough because they got a large table of customers in their main dinning area the older lady was the only one serving the 19 of us instead of the two of them! now my guest's weren't getting there food per table at the same time & again the food had no covers on them which made it not hot like it should have been! this process took hours due to how much time she alone was taking (she was doing her best but not acceptable when they should have had more staff since i book 2 months in advance) i was trying to help by asking to have pitchers of water & pop but then we had no glasses then had to keep waiting for them & this & that! We tried to make the best of it because of our celebration & my guests were very understanding considering how long they had to wait to eat & were very hungry! at one point after we finished our salad & soup my son-in-law had notice the older owner sitting downstairs instead of removing the dirty plates because the tables were quit small they had to keep them on the table in the way when they could have been clean write after we ate! Needless to say at the end when it came to paying for my food and drinks because the daughter knew that her mom had screwed up and not offering my guests a bottle of wine per table they decided to charge me for every 7 drinks a bottle of wine but i was pissed when they told me it was $38 per bottle as the one i had chosen was $28 per bottle, so because of them i went over my budget and they didn't even care in my option! if it were someone else they would have lost it on them & not paid it since it was there fault! I would recommend eating in the main dining area but never ever in that room upstairs until you make sure they have enough staff & cover the food so it stays warm! thank you for reading my long review & I hope it helps someone else for making the same mistake as i did trusting they would have enough staff & be prepaid to feed 19 people all the...

Cute little restaurant in a plaza that feels like you took a trip to Europe. It was our first time visiting after driving by numerous times, and it was worth the wait. There’s a lot of regulars, and the staff is small but this doesn’t take away from the service. We had their lobster bisque (good chunks of lobster, flavourful), seafood schnitzel, and jager schnitzel. You get to choose two sides with the schnitzel and I chose vegetables and spatzle. I had a bite of the spatzle first, a type of egg noodle, and wasn’t too impressed until I had the schnitzel which was amazing and rich that I realize the spatzle balances the flavour. The schnitzel (priced around 18-30 based on what you want), is a huge portion so come hungry. The presentation isn’t that great, but the food is worth it. We were were happy with the schnitzels and will definitely be...

Seemed like a great place to get authentic German food so yesterday, we tried it out. Nice atmosphere. Draft beer was the perfect temperature. I ordered the herring app and it turned out to be pickled herring from the jar topped with sour cream and was not palatable. My entrée was the jaeger shnitzle with spaetzle and red cabbage. When the dish came, the spaetzle was replaced with home fries. When I asked about why I have home fries, the waitress told me they ran out of spaetzle, leaving me with the only alternative the cook was willing to make. As well, the jaeger sauce (that was supposed to be made of red wine and mushrooms cooked together) was just brown poutine gravy with a couple of mushrooms that were over fried and tossed in. This was a very disappointing experience and I really hope that my terrible visit to this...

This place is good if you've never been to Germany or had authentic german food. Not sure if the owners have ever been to germany, or had proper saukraut, but theres is far from it. While the decor was spot on and ambience was just like being in a pub, the food was less than par.. The schnitzel had no flavor, not enough sauce and was quite tough. The red cabbage was from a jar (knine i pretty certain) and the saukraut was flavourless and unappetizing. The strudel had a DEFINITE freezer taste after. Like something thats been in the freezer for far too long and improperly stored. Theres a MUCH better german place in Scarborough, take your taste buds there, you wont be let down.

Went to Sauter's Inn for lunch. We both had the lunch special Schnitzel with red cabbage and home fried potatoes. We shared a bowl of potato leek soup which was so tasty, we were left wanting more. The schnitzel was perfect and moist inside with a nice crispy breading. The red cabbage was very flavourful with just the right amount of vinegar, home fries well seasoned and a bit crispy. The restaurant is a cozy little spot that seems to attract quite a few regulars. The service was top shelf, and the server was pleasant and helpful with menu suggestions. A completely enjoyable lunch will certainly have us return for more and recommend to friends.
