This review is a bit late as I ordered take out from Zohan's Grill last week.
After Karachi Charkhara shutdown its doors in Whitby, I was quite bummed since it was a great addition along side Namak Handi, providing an alternate option.
Zohan's Grill fills that void and then some. Great food and friendly ownership.
Quick review of each item:
Nehari: Authentic tasting, perfectly stewed, and tender beef shank meat. You can ask for them to remove the excess oil. 9/10.
Gola Kabab: Reminded me of Kabab Paratha from the weddings, very traditional, meaty and perfectly charred. I could taste a bit more ginger than it should have but not a deal breaker. 7/10.
Balochi Tikka: Authentic masala, perfectly covered in spices without being spicy. Instant recalled the days of having it at a restaurant with friends on the National Highway, Karachi. Flavorful and perfectly seated. Delicious! 8/10.
Beef Biryani: Tender meat, great quality rice, flavorful, great smelling and authentic wedding taste. Altho some people it but I had to remove some garam masala items such as cinnamon bark and star anise. Not a biggie. 9/10.
Qeema Hari Mirch (ground beef with green chillies) : Star of the show for me. Hand chopped thick Qeema / ground beef, with the perfect amount of fat and spices. This was extremely flavorful with the green chillies. Reminded me of a friend's mother (may her soul rest in eternal peace), who would often treat us to her delicious food when we went to their place after college. A solid 10/10 for me. I was surprised to find this on the menu. A very unusual item to be on a restaurant menu but so perfectly done!
Naan: Soft, warm and fresh. Nothing more to write about it.
Total bill: $68. We are 3 people including wife and my 10 yr old son. Plenty of leftover for 2 meals afterwards.
Wife and son loved it. Going to be a weekly ritual for us to have the food from here. There isn't much space to sit, so consider ordering take out. Owner was very courteous and professional when I had the pleasure of chatting with him. Wish them the best of luck and success with this venture.
Going to be ordering dinner from there a bit...

I recently discovered a gem of a restaurant serving Old Delhi-style Biryani, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. The Biryani was a perfect blend of rich spices, a captivating aroma, and perfectly cooked rice that transported me straight to the streets of Old Delhi.
Initially, I purchased a box just to try it out, and I was blown away by the authentic taste. On a special occasion, I decided to order a tray from them, and they made it fresh for me. The tray was so delicious that my entire family kept asking where I got it from!
The place itself is small and primarily for takeout, but the quality of food more than makes up for it. The owner is incredibly kind and ensures everything is prepared with care.
If you’re a fan of authentic Biryani, I highly recommend giving this place a try. It’s a hidden treasure for true...
Read moreI like to explore my neighbourhood and surrounding areas, especially new restaurants. This time, I dropped in at Zohan's Grill, located in Pickering Village. It's a small Pakistani restaurant with minimal seating and decor.
Dining solo, I tried their Chicken Biryani. At only CDN$9.99, it was a good sized serving that included rich coloured rice, potatoes, and a quarter chicken. Although my taste buds are still compromised, I could tell that the chicken was a bit on the bland side but the rice had good flavour. Overall, it was a decent dish, with a bit of spicy heat.
I'm a fan of this cuisine so I'll be back to try more of their food.
Note: It's good that they respond to every review on Google but their response is literally a copy and paste job, same every time.
