This place is very interesting! I love the atmosphere and the juke boxes. I have been here a few times, and service is hit or miss. When it's just the teenage girls working....expect almost no service at all. There were 3 girls and a young guy working this last time I went. An older woman was around, but she was in the back. So 4 young staff working the restaurant.....and ones on a laptop another was just kinda wondering around, the guy and another girl spent alot of time chatting behind the counter.....NOW there was only 2 tables...mine and an elderly couple (I was there with my 2 kids). When we walked in, the girl greeted us and took our drink order right away and was very friendly. It took a bit for the drinks (juices and a coffee) We ordered our food, which was delicious, but again, it did take a bit, which not sure why as it was 2 bowls of soup and pre made quiche and a piece of cherry pie. Also, when got the soup we didn't get the bun with butter. After we got our food the server didn't come back around for well over 20 mins. Then after that....she didn't come back at all. We finished our food but my son wanted to take his quiche with him and I wanted to order some dessert.....but not one staff over or even clear the table (the dishes were empty and begining to stack up) or just check on our table.....so I wanted to pay the bill...after waiting another 20 min (didn't have anyone come around to do coffee refills either) I grew impatient. And just finally walked up to the counter paid and left. My son didn't get to take his food with him. The kids were a bit disappointed, as was I. It wasn't busy at all and there was a lot of staff working. The place is awesome, but when the young staff are working....I recommend sticking to just grabbing an ice cream and not dining in. Again the food is fantastic and love the motif of the place but the service really...

Food was so good!!! I had the Healthy Sandwich with chicken - hearty difficult to hold, I cut it up and ate it like a sandwich salad! Was amazing! The broccoli salad I had with it was so full of flavor!! The Chicken Pot Pie looked amazing and tasted good as well although I like my sauce/gravy a bit thicken. Tuna Casserole was so good!! I make tuna casserole myself from scratch and this made me think of tweaking a few things taste wise!! Clubhouse was also good! I didn't try it but my hubby enjoyed it. Pies looked amazing, hubby had the cherry pie and enjoyed it. Kids had icecream and it was a hit all around!!!

Only reason I didn't go for the 5* is because our service really didn't do much other then order and serve. One water had a floaty and I put it at the edge and she never asked once about it. After we were done eating we sat for a long time waiting to get dessert, she asked the table behind us if they would like dessert then went to the table in front of us to see if they needed anything else. Subsequently we went to the front counter and ordered!

Aside from the subpar service, I will definitely be going back!! And would highly recommend...

Went in for lunch. Noticed staff eating behind food preparation main counter. Floors were dirty at the time counted 5 staff on shift. Most standing and chatting. Back area near restroom was filthy. Multi layers of sticky dried spills on floor near large cooler cabinet. Food cabinet was very dirty. We turned around to leave and noticed to 8×10 slabs of what appeared to be lasagna on backwall counter uncovered not in cooler not sealed, just sitting there out in the open. Found out that the old owner had sold it to a fellow by the name of Dave. Wow unless you really care about your business your staff is a reflection of the owner. Will certainly never return. If the health inspector was in on that day your establishment would have been closed until it proved to be thoroughly cleaned. I have been leaving reviews for years. Not very often do I leave a 1 star rating as this can be a severe impact to a business. I take alot of pride in leaving honest reviews without any fancy pictures , just straight up honest points that I think will assist consumers left...

While searching for a lunch spot, we stumbled upon this amazing restaurant. The roads leading here and the surrounding vibes were truly beautiful. A great restaurant can turn an ordinary dish into something extraordinary, and this place does just that. Primarily a sandwich and soup spot, I was initially skeptical. However, after tasting their sandwich and potato soup, I'm a convert. The sandwich was tasty and fresh, and the potato soup is to die for. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients. We finished with milkshakes, and I highly recommend their Belgian chocolate milkshake. This place is a hidden gem, at least to me, just a short distance from Calgary. We will definitely return for a nice little getaway. Inside, it feels like you've been transported years back, reminiscent of 'Pop Tates' from Archie's. It's comforting, welcoming, and soulful. I usually struggle to find a place without flaws, but I can't think of any here. Love it!

Came to High River because I’m a Heartland fan—even knowing Maggie’s Diner is a facade. Hadn’t heard about Evelyn’s but I’m glad we stopped in. Hands-down best sandwich I’ve had in a long time. Had the Who Knew? with the daily special soup (mushroom barley). Only disappointment was my drink. Ordered a sangria lemonade but they were out, so asked for raspberry lemonade instead. It tasted more cherry and was heavy on the syrup. Daughter had the Close Cut with a Rick’s salad for the side (small upcharge). The salad alone was hearty enough for a meal. Sandwich was good, but she said next time she’d order something she couldn’t make at home. Decor is fun—and probably would have more meaning for us if we had seen The Last of Us. Definitely recommend a stop—but not if you’re in a rush. Enjoy and savor!

No Burgers for you !!! No french fries either Why was I anticipating burgers to be served here ? Luckily I'm easy to work with and quite spontaneous. They do have quite a lot of other good offerings that offer locally sourced ingredients that support the local high River. The waitress advised me the local favorite is a sandwich called the BIRD , which is a freshly roasted chicken sandwich served with lettuce and mayo topped with cranberry sauce. The chicken is supplied by the local hutterite community. But today I opted to try the triple threat sandwich which is a grilled cheddar Brie and provolone served with a side of potato chips. Fantastic diner with nostalgic decor. Nostalgic 50s decor was a nice touch. I enjoyed my dining experience And I look forward to trying it again someday.
