To set the stage, I come into this place with a purely empty stomach and a pretty low mood. Takes little time to get seated and asked about drinks. I ask for the ice tea; It's a little weak but who cares. The walls around me adorned with honestly enraging posters. Like there's a poster of a cat posed like it's a mugshot with a board that says "I don't like children". I order the ribs. It takes like 7 minutes for the food to come out, which is a little concerning. The garlic toast is good, the fries are okay, the ribs are... Horrible. Like it's barely warm, and the barbecue sauce is entirely pepper. Like too much pepper. I cannot stress how much pepper was in the barbecue sauce. I could've opened the pepper shaker, taken out a whole peppercorn and ate it, and it would still be less peppery than this barbecue sauce. Mind you, there's just an insane amount of it on the ribs too. The ribs themselves are really small. There's little meat on the bones, they're like less than an inch long. I got through 2½ before calling quits. I had to send it back. They were $34 and not worth a single penny. God gave me a test too large. I order a Mac and cheese instead. It comes out suspiciously fast, around 5 minutes. It's actually hot! It has cheese and insanely large green onion slices on it as garnish. I'm not a fan of green onion so I take it off. Stir around the Mac so that cheese garnish actually mixes in, and the cheese just doesn't melt from the heat. Hell, the temperature of the dish lowers an insane amount in the 3 or so minutes I am eating it. The taste is so incredibly one note. Like it has maybe one flavor. The garnish isn't helping either. It just sticks out like a sore thumb. The texture is staggeringly nothing. The pasta breaks apart like any other pasta but somehow more boring. The sauce itself is simultaneously loose and sticky; What alchemy they did to do this, I am not entirely sure. Eating it is a test of patience, and I am not winning. I eat like half of it, then ask for a box and the bill. I paid $24. I didn't even pay for the ribs and I feel like I got scammed. I'm currently at home typing this, and I severely regret going there. I came out in a worse mood than I started. I threw away the Mac and cheese before I even got to the door. If you haveeven a modicum of respect for yourself, please don't go here.
Side note: the servers were pretty nice. I feel bad for them, having to work in the most miserable restaurant...
Read moreIf I could give you zero stars I certainly would. Advoid this place if you are looking for a decent place to have a family meal. First experience at Mr Mikes we arrived at the end of our vacation in High River looking to enjoy a nice dinner. We pulled into Mr Mikes I googled the menu looked good.We got sat on the patio she tried to seat us at a table that had high bar chairs which I thought was extremely odd since we had 2 smaller kids with us . She took our drink order and returned with 5large glasses of pop.The glasses were to big for the kids and hard to manage we needed straws she never returned for about 15 minutes .She took our order .I waited 25 minutes for a Caesar salad ,i finally asked the other lady to please check on it and straws please. The salad had very minimal dressing but she never returned to find that out hungry we ate it and we also would have liked an extra plate. The food came out 45 minutes later my steak sandwich was horrible cut of meat.It was like leather .The server returned it to the kitchean and it took forever to re place the meal. By now everyone was well done eating and my dinner a medium rare sandwich arrives .It was a good cut of meat and tasty. We had to move into the building as the wasps were attacking us on the patio. When I arrived back from the bathroom she had re sat us in the bar.even tho there is a dining area. This was very uncomfortable for us as everyone sitting around us were drinking beers and the kids were playing around the table as they obviously were bored watching me eat.The table next to us was very annoyed as they probably sat in a bar so they could be in an adult environment. The hole experience was uncomfortable. The service was pathetic. The server brought the bill and charged me full 4 bucks or so for each of the kids pops when I asked why when they were included she said they were upgraded ???? The server was so scattered and her service was so bad I told her just give me the machine to pay I just want to pay and leave,The manager came and tried to make our completely horrible experience better with 2 cheesecake desserts and a25 dollar gift card. The worst experience in a restaurant ever from the server to the kitchen. Shame on you Mr Mikes for the worst family dining experience I have ever encountered advoid this place if your looking for a...
Read moreBrought my 82 year old great uncle out for a lunch before he flew back home out of province as we love their fish and chips. After 40 minutes of waiting after ordering our food finally came. 2 orders fish and chips and 1 medium steak and vegetables. Mind you we were the only people in the restaurant when we ordered yet the table who came in afterwards had already gotten their food. Still only 2 tables in the restaurant including ourselves. Both orders of fish were 90% batter that was either rock hard or just fell apart. Both of us could not eat it. The other guests steak came so blue rare it was red and dripping blood, the vegetables so hard you could barely get a fork into them (carrot chucks and one brusselsprout cut in half) they took the steak back and cooked it again even though it was already cut into 2 pieces.it was supposed to be medium rare and was told that it was. When returned was incredibly chewy. We had already mentioned we could not eat the fish. We got all sorts of excuses from “its the supplier”, “thats how headquarters wants them cooked”, “thats not my fault”, “its chewy because its a sirloin”,“sautéed vegetables should be hard as thats whats demanded”, “the fish was too small for the batter” and “oh we get this complaint all the time about the fish and chips”.
When we mentioned we did not want new fish etc and just the bill she finally said sorry and that she would get the manager. Upon returning was told there was no manager on site. Long story short we left hungry and still having to pay for coffee and an iced tea that hadn’t been drank. No further apologies, just poor excuses that make me not want to return again after years of patronage it was that bad.
The server never introduced herself, no small talk, made us feel very unwelcomed from her first appearance table side and was very dismissive, talking down when replying to questions about menu contents due to severe allergies.
No further action to facilitate us returning or the manager’s name.
The only good thing I can say about our over hour of disappointment was we enjoyed playing jenga and the waitress whom originally seated us was...
