Smitty's Family Restaurant in TABER — Restaurant in Alberta

6/5 stars!! I was recently dining at Smitty’s and I must leave a review for my fantastic server Madison!! I’ve been to many restaurants in my day, but the experience I had because of the outstanding service from my server is above and beyond any other restaurant experience I have ever had. We bonded over our love for pickles so she brought me 2 in my Cesar, it’s the little things. But the next thing I know I slurped a little too much on my dill pickle and it was lodged in my esophagus blocking my airway, I was about to meet my maker. Next thing I know I see Madison leap to my saviour and begin the hymalick manoeuvre!!! With 3 swift squeezes the pickle was dislodged, it went flying out of my esophagus and I could breathe again. Madison is clearly highly trained in much more than just serving and excels at everything she does. Thanks to her I get to live another day and I will be back regularly to this Smittys restaurant as it’s the best place on earth, thanks...

Service is not great, it seems like they’re always short staffed. Foods good if you order the right things and the whole restaurant is extremely outdated. Seems like the owners or management needs improvement.

UPDATE: I came back because I wanted a breakfast place and Taber has no others, I was happy to see the service improved quite a bit, they had 3 waitresses and the food came out of the kitchen pretty consistently and our wait wasn’t as long this time, still took a while but an acceptable amount of time, our food was all fantastic and I’ll probably come back more frequently if this keeps up. It is still incredibly outdated but it is what it is. The only thing I was disappointed by was the chocolate milk I ordered, it was not really cold and extremely overpriced at $4.50 for a medium sized cup. Still very happy to see the staff a service improvement’s because food and service are the main reasons for me...

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.. this was absolutely the worst restaurant experience! We came in and had ordered our food all at the same time 2 orders had come out 25 minutes later the other orders took well over an hour they had dirty tables with their own personal belongings all over, the waitress smelt like she hadn’t showered in days, and they had their own kids running around the whole restaurant, they were to busy feasting on their own damn buffet. And we had ordered pene Alfredo and we got linguini & one of our guests had to bring her own salad dressing cause they had no variety !! The bill was minimally discounted, the waitress would not give us much service we had to pour our own water cause she was to busy feasting own her own food.
