Subway — Restaurant in Alberta

I ordered 2 footlongs (same kind) and a 6" I asked the server to cut the footlongs in half then wrap them separately, which he did, but at payment he charged me $10+ more.

I asked him why? He said, because they are now 5pcs of 6" sandwiches instead of footlongs. As per him, what I did is not allowed. He did then charged me back to my original order.

It's not about the money really, more on being honest or even customer service maybe? Do I have to explain to any servers why I did what I asked this guy? If he asked, I would gladly tell, but he never did with a frown face.

I'm only thinking about feeding my crew who are working 100m high for 10 hours, rain or shine, only going down after end of day. How can they eat comfortably, should I have them eat a 12" long sandwich while only hanging by their harness', not considering 30km/hr windgust, maybe more at that elevation? Sandwich was good, although they have bad practice when it comes to vegetarian food preparation.

They do not ask if you would like to have them change gloves when preparing a vegetarian sandwich.

They handle the cheese after handling the meat.

The same person puts the vegetables on that handles the meat with the same gloves.

These are all easily fixable mistakes, but extremely concerning that they have deviated from standard...
