Overall, a great-looking restaurant that my family likes to visit every once in a while. Food quality is not superb but I don’t mind it since it’s a relaxing atmosphere to grab a meal and catch up with friends and family.

We hate to do this and we don’t like to call people out individually but one particular server “Heather” at the kitchen bistro offers a horrible dining experience and makes us hesitate about visiting the restaurant more often.

We have quietly observed her for the greater part of the past 4-5 years. In that, we can confirm she has served us at least 20 times over the years, so it’s fair to say that we have a decent sample size to give a fair assessment of her service quality.

To keep it light, she is very cold and standoffish and might come off as very rude to the average customer. Her negative energy, glowering facial expressions, and other subtle nuances such as the way she takes away the menu from you or the way she puts the food on your table, can make you feel very disrespected and uncomfortable at times

The first few times she served us, we were actually quite surprised to get such low-quality service at such a high-quality restaurant. We thought maybe we caught her on a bad day or she was going through something personally, so we brushed it off and decided to give her a second, third, or fourth chance.

But after almost 5 years and 20 dining experiences later, along with many conversations with friends, colleagues, and coworkers, we were surprised to find out we were not the only ones who felt this way about her. Many have confirmed similar dining experiences with Heather as their server. Simply put, we are probably not the first nor last to feel this way about her service.

Obviously, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and no one should take our word for it. Perhaps future customers or restaurant management (can use secret shoppers) to experience Heather’s service themselves first hand to see if they get a similar dining experience with this particular server.

Once again we did not want to do this, but we feel like it’s best to get it out there because we feel like one bad server can really overshadow the excellent service provided by the rest of the staff working at the Kitchen Restaurant. Aug 30, 2023 - went this Wednesday for burger night. I had a very nicely done beef burger. My cousin had the Salmon burger. It comes with French fries. It was a very good deal at $9.99.

Dec 28, 2021 - ok. We came back today and tried the regular Menu. Food was good as always. I had the short rib and it was nice and tender. Others had the Salmon, roast chicken, burger, and prawns.

Our experience today for brunch was great. Reservations for 5 people. Our server was pleasant and efficient. Our food was really good. We made reservations for 1145am and they got us a table that met our needs just as I asked through the online reservation system. They gave us a carafe of coffee for the table with lots of cream. Yay! Two of us had steak and eggs, two house breakfasts and myself with the eggs Benny. The eggs Benny is served Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 2pm. There are 6 versions to choose from: a regular, Fried chicken, salmon, avacado and tomato, and a lobster version. The price for the Benny's range from $9 to $21. Most are under $15. I would come here any day over most trendy brunch places. It wasn't very busy today but that could be due to people just starting to come back from the pandemic. I got my Benny eggs soft. They were perfect.

Update September 26 - had a great visit today. Good food as usual. Good service. We were the same table of 5 people and we got in quickly even with getting our vaccination and ID checks. Appreciate the staff keeping us safe.

Oct 23 2021... We visited today for my birthday brunch. Our server Sam was amazing. He really went above and beyond on our service. I also had the fried chicken eggs Benny. It was so good. Fried chicken instead of English muffin. I would definitely order again. Yum. It was a lot of food. So order that if you are hungry.

Nov 7 2021... Most of our Entourage got the fried chicken eggs Benny, soft poached. It was amazing. Everyone thought it was divine. Thank you Simon for being a great Server.

Dec 11, 2021 - We came for the fried chicken eggs Benny but were disappointed to find it's no longer a special. Awe. We love that dish. I got the California Eggs Benny which was good too. I hope the fried chicken benny...

Went for the breakfast buffet, $17.99. It is a good price for what they serve. Everything on the buffet had a high turnover rate so it was all very fresh. However, when I went today, all the food except the made to order omelettes was cold. The hashbrowns were also not fully cooked, no matter how many times they refilled the dish. The constantly refilled waffles were always cold and soggy, even though they were in a warming tray, as was the eggs benedict. The coffee didn't taste good today. I'd suggest that they wipe down or change the serving utensils often because they were all sticky from people's hands touching them. Also, nobody was sure where the buffet line started, as many people went to get omelettes first and then continued forward, which confused others who were starting from the front. This is a new buffet offering, as this is not the same brunch buffet that they used to offer. I would give it another try, as I know their buffets are usually great.

Update: My family and I went for the Friday Prime Rib buffet and it was an excellent experience. There were many choices of fresh, hot food. The prime rib was tender and flavourful, the lamb tagine was an unexpected surprise; spicy and mostly tender, the create your own pasta was nicely cooked. Everything was extremely hot, fresh, and constantly refilled. There is a wide variety of desserts as well, such as dessert bars, cakes, and pies. Our server, Gamini, was friendly and attentive, and it sounded like many of the other servers were too.
