In visiting this place the first thing I took note of is no prices anywhere in the store. Red flag. Moving forward we ordered some bread and sweets. It came to 55 dollars and 75 cents. I got her to write a hand written detailed receipt which the clerk who is likely the owner had to write by request only. She charged really high prices. I paid 8 dollars for a left over slice of Apple strudel and 4.50 for a cookie with jam. Besides the outrageous prices the food was dry and I am not referring to the gluten free bread we bought that is always dry all of it including the bread that was not gluten free is dry old and as for price the gingerbread house in Halifax south end charges 4.25 for a slice of apple strudel and I could go on but roughly German owned gingerbread house Halifax charges half the prices this place changes. I had traveled to France and Italy and shopped for pastry’s in some of the most tourist dense areas and never ever was charged this high for prices. This shop is clearly taking advantage of people in such a greedy way. I had never seen anything like it before. She does it with a smile stay away as your going to get taken here. I would expect her prices to be on par with Michael Winga owner of the gingerbread house halifax. I was also his student in cooking school back in the 90's and worked as a cook for many years so I know a food scam when I see one. This place stinks of it.

What an amazing, mouth-watering, delicious experience this was! It was the first time I had ever been there, my boyfriend had been before and said as we started on our vacation, he wanted to take me there for lunch! We were greeted by whom I believe was the owner, she was pleasant, funny and welcoming! We sat outside and ordered beer and wine and our food. I felt so fancy sitting on a patio, breeze blowing, ordering a glass of wine with my love, on a Tuesday afternoon! I never really get to do those kind if things! I ordered the paprika schnitzel with sauerkraut and potatoes and my boyfriend had the gulash with spatzel...omg! Amazing! Authentic, flavourful, and fresh! We then had a delicious dessert of some sort of sour cherry and raspberry danish which we devoured before I could even snap a picture. They were amazeballs! We then proceeded to head out with an assortment of cookies for our trip! Which...all were a delicious flavor adventure! We will be back again and again! Every mouth and belly deserves to taste the food and experience the atmosphere that this little gem is offering!

Owners are the real deal. The food served is the real deal. With the rich sweet aromas swirling thru the Annapolis air, I drifted back to a time when I was in Frankfurt Germany for a very short 6 years. As soon as I saw the exterior of the restaurant, the architecture/decor distinctly stood separately from the neighboring buildings; it is typical German style from the tables with umbrellas and a surrounding picket fence that gives customers that feeling of belonging to a new cultural experience. When I stepped thru the entrance, my olfactory senses lost its mind. The breads, the stews, the schnitzels, the wursts and the sweets played with my every compulsion. Beir, Der Erdinger Dunkel smeckt sehr gut. Order one (or two only if you're walking and not driving). The alcohol content is not that of Black Label or an Evian water. I'm absolutely envious of the locals who can return again and again. My next visit will be an extremely long (1yr or 2) and a painful wait. Go. Go now! Enjoy life. Enjoy a great German meal prepared with love.

We loved our lunch here during our 1st trip to NS. The food was definitely cooked to order with love & attention. We thoroughly enjoyed the schnitzel, which was fork tender and the fried potatoes were seasoned to perfection..yum and the most delicious salmon sandwich served on bread that we could eat until we popped it was soo good! Susannah was very friendly and so funny we totally enjoyed visiting with her. She made the perfect wine & beer suggestions based on what we told her we like as well as our food selections. After a very leisurely unhurried lunch and chatting on & off with Susannah we couldn't resist having a sweet treat from their delicious display of homemade pastries, even though we were stuffed from our excellent meal and we're glad we split the strudel..yum! We couldn't leave without 2 molasses cookies, like we had when we were little, which were scrumptious even the next day! The obvious care they take to present authentic, delicious German food is evident in every bite. Highly recommend stopping here when in Annapolis Royal, right across from the beautiful Ft Anne walking are and help support a local family business. Thank you to Susannah and her Mom for making our...
