We were thrilled to hear the Whiskey Teller had launched a new vegan menu. Previously we had been for drinks (always great cocktails!) And maybe fries or the bao buns when they had them. We were excited to try the vegan items and support their decision to provide enough for vegans to enjoy a meal there. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and seated on the lovely patio. Drinks came quick and were well made and delicious (mule and margarita). When we ordered from the vegan menu we were informed the vegan mains, unlike the mains on the regular menu, do not come with a side. The same sandwich on the regular menu (Philly mushroom) is $16 and comes with side fries. The vegan version is $18 and does not come with a side. This means that the vegan is paying $7 more to have the same meal. We can understand a small upcharge for dairy free bun and cheese, however the side should still be included. It feels like price gouging or the "vegan tax". We spoke to the server and manager about this and they listened politely and understood yet they do not set the prices. We never want to take out frustrations on the service staff having spent many years in the industry as servers ourselves. The manager was nice enough to bring us a complimentary side fries with our meals. Both our mains were tasty and well cooked, the sauce for the tofu fingers was really good and the mushroom Philly was a nice sandwich. The appetizer we got was the cauliflower which was a very small portion and bland. Basically plain cooked tiny florets with pomegranate seeds over top. Disappointed with the app but the mains were good. Overall the experience left us a little sad as we hoped it would be a new date night spot or place we can go with friends and family both vegan or non vegan. The value for vegan options at Junction 16 is much better with a sharable good sized pizza for about $25. Service and atmosphere and drinks top notch at both locations but the vegan menu pricing just doesn't make sense at WT. Hopefully they will make adjustments as we know they just launched this menu and maybe these things were not all considered. Thanks to the server and manager for being friendly and listening. We never want to be "that table" who complains but hopefully the issues will be brought to owners attention. I'm sure other vegans who go will have similar surprise and give feedback. We appreciate the vegan options but it needs to be reasonably priced comparable to the...
Read moreWe arrived with a crew of 5, there were no tables available at that moment but the hostess didn't think it would be long, she offered to take a number and she would call us when some availability came up and encouraged take in the sight for the local boardwalk. While taking in the boardwalk sure enough we received a call and a table opened up and they would hold for us. The hostess was very polite even though I am sure it was a hot day, sat us down in an outside boot, which I might add was very spacious and could comfortably fit 6. Our server immediately gave us water and glasses along with menus right after seating us and was back not to long after that for drink orders. The drinks were along shortly and soon after she returned for our food order. It was a nice atmosphere, shaded area in the outdoor booths. Our food was out in about 30 mins but, considering it was a full house and not a fast food restaurant, that's completely reasonable. The server was by a few times to make sure we always has water and the front of house manager was even by checking on tables making sure our experience was good. The food was delicious, came out hot, I had full rack of ribs, with a side of monitory jack corn bread and an order of teller nuts. You could definitely taste the wood smoke in the ribs which provided a unique flavor, different than the same old you get. Most importantly I left full and the plate was clean so portions were decent
Overall it was a good experience I definitely wouldn't avoid it if I had the opportunity to go again, I will say though the hype on the street made it seam like it may have been more than what I experienced but that is no fault of the restaurant. And my experience certainly wasn't poor in the least
I had a full rack of ribs with corn bread, side of teller nuts and a cocktail (old fashioned) and my bill was around $45 ($55 with 20% gratuity) it is leaning towards the pricier side but I think the service and experience do help justify that. From my our first interaction with the hostess to paying our check it was a great...

Received a heaping platter of Nachos, with one tiny Ramekin of Salsa, I immediately informed the wait person that was not enough salsa could they bring more and my request was acknowledged. I noticed the Nachos were very dry and quickly used up all my Salsa helping them down. As the staff never returned I finally got their attention and asked again if I could get the salsa. It again was some time and I had eaten all of the Nachos I wanted. There was so much that I offered the remainder to my 3 friends who had finished their entrees and had commented that their portions were small. ( shrimp and Ribs ) They all had a decent portion of my Nachos and still no salsa had arrived. We were all finished and then it appeared as we asked for our bill . The wait staff brought the bill and announced that they had taken the too late , too small serving of salsa off. Really they wanted to charge extra for some basic condiment!! Besides the meals not being great the portions and condiment servings sizes were rather erratic and unrealistic. Appetizer was HIUGE, entrees small. condiment was scarcer than...
