First, the good. Beautiful food and scenery. Now the hard part. We first tried to order margaritas, which they did not know how to make. We asked instead for whiskey sours (whiskey, lime, shaken with ice....simple) and they took a while to arrive as they had to Google how to make it. They were made with lemon instead of lime but were tasty nonetheless, and our table enjoyed a few of them over the course of the evening. When the bill arrived we were shocked when we did the math....$18 per cocktail. We thought there must be a mistake as typically this drink would be anywhere from $5 to $13 for top shelf and made by a skilled bartender. Our server said they were made as doubles (which we were not informed of) and at $9 an ounce. We were shocked, between myself and my husband we have never encountered prices like that and have over 20 years of experience serving and bartending. Also the drinks were clearly not made as doubles, as my husband had 3 and he would have been really feeling it if they had been 2 ounce drinks. Our server was polite, she informed us she asked the owner about it and could not do anything about it. We would have never ordered those drinks if we had been informed of price especially given the fact they were not made correctly. Typically I only write rave reviews as I love supporting local and family owned businesses. Sadly we were left feeling terrible especially after inviting our friends for dinner here. Do yourself a favor and go up the road to the competition, where a professional bartender will make you the best 2oz cocktail with care for $13 or less. Price clarity, transparency and communication go a long way in this industry. As a server I always informed of a premium price or the price on an upgrade or off-menu item. Nobody likes crazy surprises when the bill comes. We are more than happy to pay fair prices, and are by no means cheap, however this was one time we felt like we'd been taken advantage of. These are hard times for restaurants, but this is not the...
Read moreAfter years of rushed and rude service from the owner of this establishment we are moving on. We are four local people who were looking for a relaxing evening out at one of the few restaurants opened in our community early in the week; what transpired was the complete opposite. Our friends made the reservation with the owner Amanda of Café Compose for arrival between 7:15 & 7:30pm. We arrived at 7:25, and Amanda told us we were late, which we were not. If she did not want us there at that time, she could have refused the reservation. Our friends own a business and it was the only time they were available. As soon as we were seated Amanda told us we have to place our order immediately because her chef would be finishing at 8:00pm. We were then rushed through our meal, we had our dessert by 8:20pm; she came to the table again to tell us that she would be closing soon, but told us to relax, she would be having a beer in the front part of her restaurant until 10:00pm. We were finishing our coffee and paying our bill at 8:45pm, when she came to the table and told us that she was closing the restaurant, which was strange after her previous comment. On our way out the door she said “I hope you did not feel rushed”, I made the mistake of saying “As a matter of fact, we did”, what followed was an owner who went on rant of verbal abuse towards me. So, if you are looking for an evening out at an average restaurant with a limited menu and are hurried to sit, order, eat, settle the bill, all under the admonishing eye of the owner, then this is the place for you. As for us we are done with...
Read moreWriting a review although we didnt even get a chance to eat there!! We stopped in today on the 12 Sep 22 @ 6 pm to look at a menu, the front of the restaraunt was completely empty, I waited patiently for a minute and then called out "Hello", i started to walk to the back as I didnt see anyone, as I approached the middle of the restaraunt, the owner snottily yelled out, "someone will be there in a min". When the owner came out, I politely asked if the patio was open, the loud obnoxious response I got: "THE PATIO IS FULL!" I asked if I could see a menu and another loud obnoxious response was "THE PATIO IS FULL!" We could of gotten take-out or sat in the front of the completely empty restaraunt but our buisness was obviously not wanted. At that point I turned to leave and she said something obnoxious I couldnt hear , so I stated it doesnt matter as I was leaving and she yelled at me "WELL YOU DONT MATTER EITHER"!! WOW. . . . . just WOW, how is this place in buisness. RUDE . . completely and utterly RUDE. We went down the street and had an awesome meal at The Whiskey Teller (1st time there) and we told the waitress our story and we were the 2nd patrons that said the same thing that afternoon regarding this restaraunt (Cafe...
