My husband and I came here because of the raved reviews. We’ve traveled to over 20 countries and eaten anything you can imagine. The breakfast at this place was TERRIBLE. My husband got the break breakfast platter with was eggs, potato’s and a side of fruit. The cook burnt the scrambled eggs completely, they were AWFUL, the eggs had no cream or salt and pepper. The fruit was LITERALLY rotting, the raspberries were mush and rotting and stinking. The toast they brought out was dry, not even any butter. We asked for butter, jam and or peanut butter. She said she didn’t have any of those, and that she had Nutella. My husband was ok with it and then she brought out jam. The jam smelt like rotten eggs and beetles (don’t ask, it just did lol). He didn’t finish his toast and the burnt eggs were vomit inducing. I got the shredder omelet, it was top 2 worst omelets I’ve had in my life. There was a tiny scrap of cheese in the first bite, then it was tasteless garbage. The chef could not care less, a child could cook better than her. Those were NOT CARAMELIZED onions. Any chef with any common sense knows that. They were raw and likely just cooked for 10-15 mins in a pan. They brought potato’s as a side, and yes, the potato’s were great, except there was 8 tiny little potato cubes (I literally counted). This place charged $50 for this trash terrible and tiny meal. The service is a 3/10 and the food is a 0/10. Gonna go throw up as I finish...
Read moreWARNING, does NOT respect dietary restrictions!!! Just because they label something Gluten Free or Vegan doesn't mean they will care to actually make sure there is no cross contamination. Absolutely the worst type of restaurant to falsely advertise they support dietary restrictions.
I was excited for a Gluten Free waffle; however, they cook the waffles in the same waffle maker as regular waffles. It's not gluten free, stop advertising it.
Response to owner response, no excuse, you can't falsely advertise like this. I will be submitting a complaint to...
Read moreI went up to kicking horse lodge for a beautiful hike, and Double Black delivered far more then that. From the 10/10 staff, who were happy to talk and reccomend places to hike nearby, to the Vanilla bean ice cream, which was delicious and only rivaled by Avalon Ice cream, Double Black Cafe is a must go if you are in town. The coffee was delicious, and when I had nothing to do nearby, they provided me with something to read and color with. This kind of service is rarely found nowadays, and I will be...
