Stopped in this place for lunch. It had really good reviews. Our waitress was right away rude. As she took out orders she was not helpful at all. My daughter has food allergies and when asked what was in some dishes she had a very short answer. I decided to let it slide things that everyone had a bad day.
When the Kids orders came there were completely wrong. When we told the server who brought them out that they were not ours the waitress who took out order came and talked to us. She tried to blame us for the order being messed up and responded "I guess Ill have to eat this now"
My wife felt bad and said we will take the order and she thanked us. When she came back she brought out two orders for the same thing. We told her that we only wanted one. She said there is two kids and we explained that my other daughter had severe food allergies and can't not eat the food there. She responded "We don't allow outside food here. I have food allergies and I deal with it with allergy shots"
I was really angry at the response as we wish out daughter didn't have food allergies. I told the wife to forget the food and we should just pay the bill and leave. The manager came over and could tell I was pretty upset and asked what was the problem. When he heard he quickly took the waitress in the back. He then came back and apologized and said that he let her go. I told him I really just want to pay the bill and leave. He insisted and said he wanted to make it right and ever offered to comp the entire meal.
He came back and showed us the order the waitress took and it was completely wrong. He then re took all our orders. He apologized several times.
I felt really bad for him cause he had to pick up the slack for dismissing the other waitress. His customer service really made up for the previous waitress. The food came out great and we all enjoyed our meals. At the end of our meal he didn't even give us a bill. He apologized once more and said we hope to see you guys in here again.
I would have given this place a 1 star due to the waitress but the manger really made a huge difference and did his best to make it right. I hope he gets recognition for excellent...
Read moreDespite it being a Saturday night at dinner time, the restaurant was pretty empty. This was surprising as it was hopping last night.
The food was very good. The cod was inspired in a tasty wine sauce served with roasted cherry tomatoes over zucchini and roasted potatoes. The fish was delicate, with little crispy bits and not at all dry!
The steak was good, although the frozen pat of herbed butter detracted from the appearance, and the mashed potatoes were creamy but not special. The roasted carrots beneath the rather large piece of beef were excellent!
My husband was nice to share his chocolate mousse (and one of the large raspberries) with me as it was light, creamy and a perfect end to the meal.
The server was attentive, friendly and did an excellent job keeping our glasses full of ice water!
The restaurant’s ambiance is pleasant with an almost simply elegant feel, EXCEPT for the music which was loud, and the vocals were accompanied by a heavy beat. It would be fine if the vibe is going for a bar or pub, but for the dinner crowd, either classical, classic rock or “new age” instrumentals might better be appreciated. Or maybe it’s just us.
The bill was $89 (without tax, tip or drinks), which wouldn’t have been too bad except for one thing. When we asked the server if they had bread, and she said they had sourdough, we said that would be fine. What arrived was an oven toasted, heavily buttered, extremely (!) thin cut-in-half slice with a nice crust that had been cut from a round loaf. One half had a very large hole in the center which wouldn’t be a problem for good sourdough. But when the bill arrived, there was a $6 charge for these super-thin slices of bread, which seems outrageous especially considering the mousse cost only $1 more.
I hope this rather new restaurant is wildly successful because it’s a lovely place to eat, and the dinner was good. I also hope management reconsiders charging $6 for bread, especially considering the portion size.
The location is also great, especially in the slower seasons when not much is open near the Kicking Horse area. We loved being able to walk to and from dinner. Do try the...

salad was so over dressed it was inedible. Yes I politely returned it, and they didn’t charge me for something I didn’t eat. I didn’t get anything else though as everyone else’s food didn’t look better
one kids order totally missed. Yes, they didn’t charge us…. But also she had to eat a side dish.
prices on kids menu were not what we were charged. I politely pointed this out -!; was met with disdain and frustration. It’s a printing error! The kids menu is on printed white paper, I suggested they throw them out and reprint as charging more than what they advertise is dishonest - $2 every kids meal adds up over customers.
It seems they didn’t like us from the start.. we were a family of 7 that had to be separated due to bc rules. Yes…. that sucked but we never argued or got confrontational. That’s a government decision not theirs. I didn’t mess up the salad, I didn’t forget the order, I didn’t over charge us…. Yet their manager and waitresses rude apologies and disconcern focused on this seating thing which was irrelevant (which we kept telling them). They seemed to want to fight us on this but we didn’t engage and that frustrated them further.
The table next to us mouthed I am sorry to me as the manager berated me at the end, as I listened and calmly and politely responded “keep your overcharged money and I simply suggest change your menus prices to reflect what you charge.”
I left crying - though the manager didn’t notice. I won’t be back, and I hope no families or guest ever experience what we did.
If I was the A, then ok disregard my Rating…. The food was meh. Soggy and cold. 3 stars max.
Edit to response (that has now vanished) : I’m sorry I upset anyone. I wasn’t trying to fight then, and I’m not trying to fight now. The service industry is under extreme pressure, and I am sorry for the attitudes you have faced. Unfortunately our visit here was negative, and reviews aren’t always positive. I wish you, your staff and...
