A&W Canada — Restaurant in Area A (Mill Bay / Malahat)

Absolutely appalled and will speak with head office. Let me start by saying I LOVE A&W, it is the only food I know I can eat out (once I leave the house) due to a hundred allergies/ intolerances. Our local A&W is great, seldom do they make a mistake and when they do, it's minor and they don't ask any questions, they just replace the issue. I eat there so often the staff know me.

Today, my girlfriend and I ordered at the drive thru in mill bay, 2 Beyond burgers just tomato. I know, it's plain but.. allergies and intolerances. The lady at the window was really short with me, to the point I'd say she had a chip on her shoulder. We got the modded beyond burgers in beyond packaging, we always check. One bite in and I say to my better half "They have been left out for too long under the heat lamp and that's strange because they aren't exactly in high demand", they tasted over grilled almost. In the back of my mind something was off. A few bites further and I am chewing some gris, that's when it hits me, I have been served a meat burger and I am a vegan. In 5 years I have not eaten meat and today they served me a MEAT burger, in vegan packaging. I stopped eating meat because I am not well and meat is a carcinogen and today I ate meat. I could bet they are serving meat burgers to lots people instead of Beyond burgers. I cannot see how it is possible to modify the vegan burger and use a meat burger and then not notice or remember when you place in different "vegan beyond burger" packaging.

To say I am appalled is an understatement. I called them immediately and the kid on the phone could hardly manage a sentence and said this mistake happens very rarely. This mistake should never happen. It's one thing to give me the wrong item, I could live with that, but you put the meat burger in my modded beyond burger and then put that in beyond packaging. It felt intentional because I can't see how you could mess that up.

I highly doubt this is a one off. They did it with 2 burgers just today. I am awaiting a call from a manager. It is absolutely not acceptable.

Be warned.

This A&W is by far the worst I have been to, it is run entirely by kids too. I highly doubt the manager has any formal training, if you can't trust your burger from a burger house we have a problem. I have a sneaking suspicion this is not the first time they have done this.

If you are feeding meat burgers to vegans we have a serious problem.

well that was fun, besides the gloom and doom service i was happy to see they had a teen burger available all day so with no options near my home in sidney i was happy to pull over for food, judging by the reaction of the cook who came out front to make a stink about my burger in the morning and the reactions i could hear that werent worth repeating... we waited to be polite, took our food and i cannot trust this place so threw it out, a waste of my time and money, but trust me, if you had been there to see the general dismay and attitudes of the staff here you wouldnt trust their cooking either... they clearly hated their jobs and this burger in the morning was what put them over the top. extremely slow service and well, ill have to think twice about any location during this staff shortage if this is the best they can do. loved hearing the drive threw girl complain out front while standing around NOT helping ... now ive learned from her rant that the owner owns full service restaurants in hotels and knows nothing of fast food and she keeps telling them how experienced she is with fast food and to listen to her and that her cooks were late ×2 .. all this out front ata table so now i know she is not as experienced as she thinks cause you just dont do that!!! but her dad or bf consolled her over a free coffee so im sure shes ok now lol and although im sure none of this was her fault lol , and standing and talking rather then helping was more important! at least i got a...

A&W in mill bay. Ordered a combo. Got my drink. Got my food but no fries. Asked a guy behind counter for my fries. He hands me my fries. As soon as he walks around the corner the other guy says "I didn't charge you for fries" I told him that I ordered a combo. He said "well I didn't charge you for a fries" He demanded that I pay again for the fries even though it says combo on the till. I took the fries out of the bag and set them on the counter and said "I do not want these fries anymore even though I payed for them already" so I set them on the counter and a few fell out of the pouch (unintentionally) then he picks the fries up puts the dirty counter fries back in the bag and then put the fries back on the heat rack. As I stood there disgusted I watched him grab the fries from the top and put them on a different rack and a few seconds after that he grabbed them for a third time, and put them in the next guys bag. Absolutely disgusting.

We will never be going back to eat food already...
