We booked a table at the Globe online and the process was easy. Arrived at 730pm on a Saturday night in March and promptly seated in the bar area w/ our own table well separated from neighbours w/ plexiglass (due to Covid). Our server Rosie was very good - checked in just enough but not too much. We were served water soon after arriving which we appreciated not having to request - it just came. My wife had a "She Wolf" cocktail which was a big hit, had some bubbles and a great taste + had a good kick to it. I had the Sandbagger Nutbrown ale which was mild for a dark ale, and didn't have that heavy Guiness texture. Had a second and it also went down easy. We did ask for the candle to be lit and before Rosie came back to do it, the bar server bringing the drinks took care of it for us, with a little show as he slid the burner out of the glass to light it. All the servers seemed to help each other out and that was a nice vibe. We ordered the lobster risotto and the pear/fennel salad; both to share. They came at the same time (which Rosie had suggested) and quite soon after we orded so kudos to the speedy kitchen. See pics. After just a couple bites we noticed that the salad was being overpowered by too much vinegrette, so when Rosie popped by to check in on us we mentioned it to her. Without even blinking she offered to have it redone w/ less vinegrette. When a new salad came back it was perfect. Thanks to the owner who apparently jumped into the kitchen to help with that. It seems some people like it more vinegary and some less, so maybe they should consider asking the customers this beforehand or making all the salads with a little less vinegrette and then providing some extra on the side. Anyway we were very impressed with how this was handled and in the end it was an awesome salad nicely paired with the lobster risotto. As for the risotto it blew us away. Temperature was perfect and it really had some nice chunks of meat in it, not to mention all the cheesy goodness that held it all together. A forkful of the risotto + a bite of salad and a sip of my ale was just heaven. This was enough for the two of us to share, but we were curious about the desserts and decided to try the "smores w/ burner at the table". This was very impressive and even though we were pretty full from the meal , those homemade marshmellows melted onto a graham cracker and drizzled w/ the choco sauce was a real treat. The little bits of sponge toffee on the slate board were also tasty but we weren't sure if they were to be melted or not. The bill was quite reasonable for all this and we were very happy to try the Globe - we'll be back! Thanks gang!

After eating amazing fish and chips at Globe Cafe & Tapas Bar at Big White both Friday and Saturday night, we deliberately extended our stay just so we could return for yet another meal made by Chef Daniel: Sous vide roast dinner! It came with smashed potatoes, the best house-made horseradish, Yorkshire puddings made from scratch, tasty gravy and vegetables cooked to perfection. Felt at home with excellent service from Beth. Both Daniel and Beth were great company with fascinating life stories to tell. Already planning another visit! If you're anywhere near Big White, go eat at Globe Cafe & Tapas Bar. You'll love it! 💟

Great Apres-ski experience with Live entertainment. We started with a cocktail, a nicely chilled Chardonnay, then a Chenin Blanc and a Pinot Noir. The wines were presented in beautiful RIEDEL wine-glasses which enhances the wine-taste big time. Nam, our very friendly waiter guided to build our Charcuterie board with Tirol speck, Spanish Chorizo, Ahi Tuna, Camembert, grilled portabella and two spreads with Spanish and garlic. This creation did taste fantastic especially with the skillet bread. And we liked the atmosphere.

How does this place have so many good reviews??!?! I am floored. What happened??? If I could leave less than 1 star I would that's how bad it was...and we gave them not only one shot... but 3 shots on 3 separate occasions since one bad experience shouldn't be the decision maker and I know that. But wow! This is the worst restaurant I have ever been too.

The first time we came was 45 minutes before the kitchen closed. We stood at the front for about 10 minutes before we were acknowledged and seated. We were seated with food menus and said we were here for lunch. Our server disappeared for about 15-20 minutes... there were only 3 other tables between the two servers. We hadn't even ordered drinks... finally the other server came over and asked if we'd been helped yet and offered to take our order. We ordered lunch and she awkwardly ran away and sent our original server to explain to us that the kitchen was closed. And had closed just before we got there. This was confusing since we said we were eating lunch when we got there, were seated with a food menu, and showed up over 30 minutes prior to that and no one said anything (the kitchen was still technically open for another 30 minutes now at this point). The table beside us also received food long after we sat down, the kitchen was not closed... We ordered drinks and were ignored until we had to chase them down for the bill. Everyone on the patio's empty cans were flying everywhere from the wind and the servers weren't coming around to collect them and there wasn't a garbage outside.

The second time, we figured we would try our luck at ordering takeout... we got stale fries and pizza and had a long wait.

The third time we went in for drinks on the patio. After waiting 20 minutes, we were finally helped. Drink choice #1 was a no from them, Drink #2 they were sold out of, Drink #3 she said wasn't right on the menu, Drink #4 she said OK!!!! And then came back a long while later and mentioned it was sold out. Finally I ordered a sangria. A few minutes later, the table next to us ordered the drink I asked for that was sold out and were eventually actually served that same drink ... when I received the Sangria it tasted like vinegar, the wine was expired. Our waitress didn't check in until quite a while after my husband finished his drink. So we were just done at that point. I told her that I couldn't drink it it was expired. We ordered our bill. She came back and told me that she was sorry I "felt that way but the drink wasn't expired, that everything was fresh and made that day" but not to worry they decided to comp my drink for me, like they were doing me a favour for serving me a below subpar drink.

We left. We won't be back... we tried to give the Globe several chances and it just completely fell flat. The food is not worth the prices at all. The service is horrible. No one seems to...

Edit: Upped to 3 stars. Have had a number of positive experiences since this review.

Atmosphere: 2/5 if you're looking to chill.

Found myself having to spend the day in the village. Not really a lot of places to just "hang out" but then I found this neat cafe with a bookshelf of travel books and games on the wall. So I figured I found a place I could order some drinks while I read a book in the corner for the morning. Making sure not to take up too much space but there was always free tables for people coming in.

It was nice at first but I slowly got the feeling like I was loitering and the music all morning was that loud, club top 40 music places play when they don't want customers to stick around. Just really didn't feel like the atmosphere connected with what the place seems to offer. Could've just been me or an off morning but that was the feeling I left with.

Food: 3/5

Chai Latte was quite good, Americano was ok, the margherita pizza at lunch was fine (more of a cheese pizza with pesto and dripping oil unfortunately), the banana bread was good (definitely have them heat it up); and the fries were McDonaldsesque which I like but real salty if you're into that. Prices were pretty par for eating in the village.

If you're just popping in for a bite, this place offers some different options than you'll find at most of the restaurants...
