This place is awesome—the real thing. Family-run by ex-Tokyoites. Gyoza were awesome-meaty (less nira and hakusai than I’m used to but the flavor was really good) with good texture on the skins. Sushi was nicely formed and the rice was perfectly treated (even the pickled ginger was a cut above what you usually find). Tonkatsu was juicy and well-flavored—some adaptation here as it was a little thicker than what I’m used to and the panko was not as light and crispy as I’ve had in Japan but I thought it worked really well. Came with a yummy potato salad and a slightly adapted version of the usual cabbage slaw that was mixed with greens. Again, delicious. Finished with homemade matcha ice cream, which was a real treat. Staff are friendly and attentive. Such a pleasant surprise to find a real Japanese restaurant, and in the middle of Fairmont. The food does take some time to come but that’s a sign of the care and quality that goes into it—if you want fast food without the quality maybe try somewhere else. Well...

This has to be one of my favourite spots to eat in the valley. The staff are very friendly, the service is impeccable even when they’re busy. For lack of a better term, they give a shit, about every single morsel of food that leaves their prep area, everything is meticulously placed and prepared in a tradition manner. If you want great Sushi, Gyoza and absolutely the best steamed pork buns I’ve found so far then look no further, Sushi Sawa has you covered.

Apologies for having no photos, the food didn’t last long enough 🤣. I should add that the pricing per person I entered consisted of two orders of Gyoza, one order of the Dragon Roll, two steamed pork buns and a bottle of Japanese beer (Orion). Probably could have fed two in...

6 Stars!!! My husband and I ate here during our stay in Fairmont for our honeymoon. The resort we were staying at didn’t have the best food so we decided to go elsewhere and we gave this cute little sushi restaurant a try. The food was excellent such a huge variety and all prepared authentically to perfection. The staff was so friendly my husband and I are both anime lovers and we admired the quite & tasteful anime music in the background. Excellent service, excellent food, great atmosphere. When we travel up that way we will come back for sure! Give this place a try...

Absolutely the best Sushi restaurant I’ve been to so far. Highly highly recommend the chicken nanban as well as yam tempura. The chicken nanban was devoured so quickly we didn’t get a photo of it. Sushi was all amazing as well. Great service, fast & so friendly. Not to mention the beautiful scenery from the picnic tables. Sooo glad we stumbled across this gem during our stay at the Fairmont resort. If we lived in the area we would be back all the time.

While staying at the Fairmont Hot Spring Resort, we googled restaurants in the area and we chanced upon this hidden gem located near the main highway. This mom-and-pop restaurant is located on one of the side roads, on the way to the Fairmont Hot Springs resort, from the main highway. It is also ran by a Japanese family. I tried the Sukiyaki beef, and I immediately loved its authentic taste. Then to cap my dinner, I then ordered a Kirin beer.

What an incredible gem we came across! If you’re in the area looking for incredible Japanese food, look no further. Everything was so tasty and fresh and made with perfection. The staff and owners were lovely and hospitable. If this place was closer to Vancouver, you can bet I would come back to try out EVERYTHING on their menu. 10/10!!
