We came for a dine-in reservation for Valentine’s Day. Obviously understanding that any restaurant is going to be busy on Valentines but, the service was really lacking and were clearly struggling between dine-in and take-out orders. They weren’t ready for our reservation time, didn’t greet us/offer drinks, was made to ring the bell, wait, and ring the bell again to get service, and overall made us feel like we were inconveniencing them when requesting for small things or top ups.
Not letting this sour our spirits, we ordered around $150 worth of sushi. We ordered chicken kaarage, a boat, and some beef teriyaki. The kaarage was fine, but seemed overly oily and tasted like it hadn’t been fried in hot enough oil. When our sushi boat came though, most of the sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi weren’t fresh, had clearly been premade and sitting out. The rolls and sashimi that were fresh had clearly been thrown together. The beef teriyaki was pretty tasty but pretty chewy and the accompanying rice wasn’t fresh or hot, it was stale and tasted like it was premade a day or two prior. Afterwards, when we were leaving, a waitress then made us feel bad for leaving behind some sushi, the pieces that were clearly old and that we didn’t feel were good to eat. We didn’t end up taking pictures because we just wanted to wrap it up and go home.
All of this is to say that we’ve been regular take-out and dine-in customers of the Aurora Mi-ne location for almost 10 years and have never been let down with the service and quality like this. While we hadn’t been for a little bit, so we don’t know if management has changed, we wanted to think that it was maybe a one off-night for them. But the clear signs of cost/time cutting and decline in food/service quality was a striking difference to the Mi-ne we knew even 1-2 years ago. It’s unacceptable for a sushi restaurant to serve pre-made sushi and charge a premium. Super disappointed, will...
Read moreHonestly, if you were to ask me which location of Mi-Ne Sushi to go to, I would and will always tell you that the Aurora location is superior to the rest 😍
You may be wondering why!
Firstly, the Aurora location is designed in a way in which you can have a lot of privacy with whoever you're dining with because they have booths all along the walls of the restaurant ~
Secondly, they've thought of EVERYTHING! When you're sitting in a booth, there's even a cloth that drapes over the opening so you don't have to keep making eye contact with people that walk by. You're probably thinking, "well then how will I get the attention of my server?" I'm telling you! THEY. THOUGHT. OF. EVERYTHING. They have call buttons that alert your server that you're in need of something 🥳
Thirdly, if you like the quality of their fish from the other two locations, I can honestly tell you that of all the times I've dined at the Markham one, and all the times I've dined at the Aurora one, there has been no competition on where the fish is fresher. No idea why, but Aurora's fish has remained the freshest every. single. time.
Lastly, the service at this location just can't be beat! No matter how busy they are, everyone that works here genuinely embodies the phrase, "service with a smile," and more, actually! They're so wholesome in every way that I sometimes feel like we're friends ~
If you're in the area, and craving sushi, DEFINITELY check this place out! I cannot recommend...
Read moreIt truly began well with great service and a delicious quality and a wide selection of Japanese cuisine. Then it went down, down, down and down. We have been nothing but a regular costumer that eats twice a month, but the last two months have been horrid. On Mother's Day, not only was the service extremely slow even with a reservation, the sushi's quality lacked. Serving soups and samples to the costumers, we were appeased for the meantime until a piece of plastic was found in my son's salmon roll. A piece of plastic! With a few excuses, a free desert and a few extra pieces of fish, our dinner ended with worry and fear. A month later, on June 25, my daughter found a fish bone in her fish roll, another terrible experience. She thankfully spat it out, but who would have thought that there would be fish bones in sushi. With a bleeding tongue and pure disgust and horrid, she was truly upset and so was the entire family. Nobody dared to eat until the manager arrived with the fakest smile and concern etched in her face, asking us what happened and lightly apologizing with a cup of cold water and a pineapple sorbet. A 7 dollar dessert would never win us over and she even tried to charge us for this dessert! Being truly a terrible restaurant, I will no longer be stepping foot inside with accidents, bad service, and a fake aura that repulsed me. If you are willing to take such risks, then go, eat and be prepared to spend an...
