*** Le Mouton Noir was our favorite restaurant in Baie Saint-Paul!  If you're ever in the area, be sure to try it, you won't regret it!  First of all, impeccable greeting and pleasant atmosphere.  Absolutely exquisite food, superb presentation, generous portions and an extremely well-stocked wine list.  I started with the char confit from Les Éboulements, which melted in my mouth.  I continued with sweetbreads and scallops... I'd never seen (let alone thought of!) this amazing combination... sweetbreads and scallops!  I assure you, it's a winning and tasty marriage, and I recommend it without hesitation: accompanied by carrots, potatoes and fried kale, this comforting dish will fill you up with happiness, I assure you!  We accompanied our meal with a tasty white Burgundy wine, Domaine de la Sarazinière, which was offered at an extremely affordable price.  I rounded off this extraordinary evening with a brownie, served hot, which was also well worth the detour.  Service throughout the meal was attentive and sincere.  There's no doubt that Le Mouton Noir offers an unbeatable value for money.  Le Mouton Noir is definitely a must in Baie Saint-Paul!

This place is truly an amazing dining experience! If there was more than 5 stars available, I would still give the highest recommendation! Having just come back from Napa, California where we stayed in Yountville (yes - the home of THAT restaurant), I can say without reservation that this was better in every way! This is great authentic New French/Quebecois and "non-poser" dining of the highest order! There was not a single bite here that was not perfectly on point! I had the duck confit cassoulet, and WOW, just WOW! Wine recommendations were spot on as well. Bottom line, this is the type of restaurant that it is worth driving into town for (it's an hour and a bit from Quebec City)! Only thing that came close in Quebec City was eating at Le Continental.

This was easily one of the best meals of my life: the atmosphere of the restaurant was very cozy, warm, and friendly. It was busy, but we had no problem hearing each other. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and perfectly present. After we ordered our food, he brought a free appetizer to the table that was delicious, and foreshadowed the excellent meal to come. We had a great bottle of orange wine with our meals - an incredible duck breast and the cocotte d’épaule de porc bio de Charlevoix, photos below. The desert was also spectacular. Could not have had a better time at Le Mouton Noir. It was more than a vibe; it was more than a meal: it was a journey.

I found this restaurant online and the reviews seems very interesting . I was super excited to try the food and I hope it would be a good relaxing evening . Upon arrival we were greeted by the bus girl , she was extremely welcoming . Once seated at our table we waited about 15 minutes before someone came to our table to know what we wanted to drink.( keep in mind the restaurant wasnt very busy ) .The waitress wasn’t friendly , she didn’t say hi to us and started the conversation by “savez-vous ce que vous voulez boire ? » . Honestely if she hates her job so much she should go home . I ordered the seafood platter which was an over cook salmon with cold potatoes and ONE raw scallops . The Brussels sprouts were tasty at least . For a 70$ meal I was expecting better food and Simple service . Your bus girl that was working that night should become a server because she was the only one that was actually working . The decor and music was good , it’s unfortunate that’s the...

Kind of mixed on this restaurant. I really liked the large terrace in the back, overseeing the river (which we recently kayaked on). The sangria was excellent as was the carrot cake dessert. But the main dishes we had were not very original, they actually had the same sides, one was chicken and the other was halibut. Both were ok, but not great. I saw a lot of people ordering one dish, a puffy cake like dish, maybe we should have tried that. They also still use plastic straws, which was quite surprising (they should really ask you if you want one, so wasteful). There was also very little vegetarian options. The entrée they gave us however, cod nuggets, were excellent. The kids meal was also very big, way too much and should not have been recommended for our young child. Our experience was not great, at these prices it should have been, but I believe with other options it could have been...

This is a surprising culinary gem in a town of mediocre pub food. Every dish was subtle and sophisticated and made using high quality ingredients. We started with the mushroom "crème brulée" mousse and the veal tartare. Both dishes were devine. The Lion mushroom mousse was easily one of the finest appetizers I've ever had, including several Michelin star restaurants. The tartare was also delightful. For our mains we had magret de canard and sweetbreads. These were conventional but very well executed without any overpowering elements in a medaly of balanced flavors. For dessert we had a signature carrot cake which was not overly sweet and quite enjoyable. Service was attentive and personable. Overall one of the finest dining experiences we've had in Canada. You won't find better within 50 km. Reservations...
