I found this restaurant online and the reviews seems very interesting . I was super excited to try the food and I hope it would be a good relaxing evening . Upon arrival we were greeted by the bus girl , she was extremely welcoming . Once seated at our table we waited about 15 minutes before someone came to our table to know what we wanted to drink.( keep in mind the restaurant wasnt very busy ) .The waitress wasn’t friendly , she didn’t say hi to us and started the conversation by “savez-vous ce que vous voulez boire ? » . Honestely if she hates her job so much she should go home . I ordered the seafood platter which was an over cook salmon with cold potatoes and ONE raw scallops . The Brussels sprouts were tasty at least . For a 70$ meal I was expecting better food and Simple service . Your bus girl that was working that night should become a server because she was the only one that was actually working . The decor and music was good , it’s unfortunate that’s the...
Read moreKind of mixed on this restaurant. I really liked the large terrace in the back, overseeing the river (which we recently kayaked on). The sangria was excellent as was the carrot cake dessert. But the main dishes we had were not very original, they actually had the same sides, one was chicken and the other was halibut. Both were ok, but not great. I saw a lot of people ordering one dish, a puffy cake like dish, maybe we should have tried that. They also still use plastic straws, which was quite surprising (they should really ask you if you want one, so wasteful). There was also very little vegetarian options. The entrée they gave us however, cod nuggets, were excellent. The kids meal was also very big, way too much and should not have been recommended for our young child. Our experience was not great, at these prices it should have been, but I believe with other options it could have been...
Read moreThis is a surprising culinary gem in a town of mediocre pub food. Every dish was subtle and sophisticated and made using high quality ingredients. We started with the mushroom "crème brulée" mousse and the veal tartare. Both dishes were devine. The Lion mushroom mousse was easily one of the finest appetizers I've ever had, including several Michelin star restaurants. The tartare was also delightful. For our mains we had magret de canard and sweetbreads. These were conventional but very well executed without any overpowering elements in a medaly of balanced flavors. For dessert we had a signature carrot cake which was not overly sweet and quite enjoyable. Service was attentive and personable. Overall one of the finest dining experiences we've had in Canada. You won't find better within 50 km. Reservations...
