I want to take this time to share my awful experience at this restaurant. We dined at Oishii for the first time this past weekend. We ordered 3 orders of the chicken ramen and a bunch of other dishes. When we began to eat the ramen, the soup was extremely bland, the noodles were soggy, the veggies were over cooked, and the chicken were tiny over cooked and dried pieces. We tried all 3 bowls, and it was all the same. The kids did not eat any of it either. We enjoyed the tuna tataki and the tuna sashimi, we even ordered 2 more orders of the tataki and the sashimi. When the server came to see how everything was, I explained to her our thoughts on the ramen. The server took the 2 bowls back into the kitchen and within seconds the chef came out and stood there giving us the death stare - it was the dirtiest look ever!! This went on for about 5 minutes. We were so uncomfortable, we ended up just getting the food packed up and asked for the bill so that we could leave. When I was paying the bill, which was over $189.00 before tip, the chef again was giving us the dirtiest look through the kitchen curtain, just glaring at us. It was the worst feeling ever, I was so shocked at the zero level of professionalism. I decided to call and speak to the manager the next day. When I got a hold of the manager, who's name is Len she was also so rude! When I began to tell her about the uncomfortable experience with the chef she began raising her voice and telling me "We know who you are!! we have been talking about you!! You wasted food that is why the chef was giving you dirty looks". The manager was arguing with me and then said that the chef was also the owner and had every right to give me a dirty look because we wasted a lot of food!!! Len kept saying this to me over and over "YOU WASTED FOOD". I was so disturbed that any owner of any business would do that!!!! There is no level of professionalism at all!!! To be honest, I would have gone back for the tuna and the tataki but not now, not after the owner and the management have zero professional skills. I would never recommend anyone...
Read moreThis is the fourth time I’ve dined at Oishi Sushi, and the first big disappointment. Each time my food has been good to great, as have all my dining partners. However, this time, my wife’s main was brought out over 10 minutes before the rest of the tables’ mains. She waited politely for the other dishes to arrive and was awarded with a cold slab of fish (was supposed to be warm). She suffered in silence as we were with a large group and she preferred not to disturb the good vibe. I had the ramen and it was boiling (literally) and delicious. The staff at Oishi are extremely friendly and polite, however each visit I find them very inattentive. Long periods between checking on the table see if the meal is OK (never happened), offering to refill water, or get another drink. It was busy, but even after the rush died down the server was nowhere to be seen. Not sure if this is a result of too few servers, or perhaps a cultural thing. Everything else was (and has been) great, but the cold fish was disappointing. Cold sushi - good; serving one dish 10 minutes...
Read moreVery pleasantly surprised by our experience here. The taste, presentation & menu choices are excellent, our server was very sweet as well.
I would add that we arrived here for a quick take-out lunch in our gym clothes and did NOT expect such beautiful quality and presentation - this in itself deserves 5 stars.
The only thing a little off putting perhaps is that the simple take-out atmosphere with TV / party speaker & strip-mall location do not reflect the food quality & pricing/ menu. This calibre of dining would be better set in a traditional Japanese dinner-setting restaurant design (similarly to Mikado) and in a stand-alone building, which would be more inviting for a sit-down dinner atmosphere and less of a quick “take-out” atmosphere”. If not too late, I’d take a note to consider upgrading the interior to a more dinner-oriented atmosphere - the food and presentation are certainly good...
