Today marks my first year wedding anniversary and I'm reflecting on our day and all the wonderful people that contributed, including vendors, and Colin's House did not disappoint.

My husband and I's favourite meal is tacos, but we didn't want your typical ones seeing as it was our wedding day. Therefore, through friends and family, Colin came highly recommended, and I am so glad we chose him. He was prompt, professional, provided all the necessary serving utensils and more, and welcomed all my ideas; including our individually served beet and yam chip cups for all our 140 guests. Aside from his phenomenal service and kindness, the food spoke for itself. The chips were such a fantastic cocktail hour snack to hold us over for our meal. The whipped feta dip is still my favourite dip of all time!

Also, through taste testing and prompt countless emails, we were able to nail down our perfect menu - a Taco Bar. We had an assortment of toppings and sauces, and several protein options. Colin was able to serve anyone and everyone, from picky eaters to all my dietary restricted friends and family. It was nearly 40 degrees outside this day last year, and so having gourmet tacos was the perfect meal; our guests still rave about them!

The first time we went to Colin's it was to pass through from the city to Pinawa and we were pretty blown away with the Fish & Chips. The tartar sauce was delicious, the fries were nicely cooked and tasted fresh (not oily or fishy) and the fish of the day was mouthwatering. Chicken tenders were really good, too. Recently tried the Fish, Chicken and Bean tacos with the Mandrine and Almond Salad and everything was just as delicious. The Bean tacos are full of flavour, it had the right amount of stuffing with the beans. I find it hard to find a really flavourful bean taco in the city so this was a pleasant surprise. Chicken taco has a mango sauce which was a bit too sweet in the first bite, but evens out in the middle with the perfect amount of chicken. Tempura Shrimp Taco was delicious. The salad was sweet, bitter and had a light tangy kick that should be eaten before the tacos ramping your appetite perfectly for the main dish. This place has not disappointed, and am always amazed at how scrumptious and fresh the food tastes. Can't wait to drive by to taste the rest of the menu!

I have never done this, but feel i need to share. I had the fish and chips on August 8th..take out. The fish was not what we normally had before. We have eaten there since they opened. An hour after eating I got so violently ill that I ended up at the hospital. I could not stop vomiting for 4 hours straight, besides the same at the other end. After semi-recovering 5 days later I went there to tell them (Colin) what happened to me. Unfortunately, he just sat and listened and did not say one word. No apology, no explanation, no acknowledgement. The only words he spoke were to say his fisherman was not fishing anymore so he was using the fish he gave me...ROCKFISH! I walked out disgusted that he had nothing to say or do. It has been 2 weeks tomorrow that this happened and it has taken me these 2 weeks to get my stomache/body back to normal. A most unfortunate experience that has left me very burnt...always shy...
