Yesterday we had both a truly wonderful and unfortunately disappointing experience at this restaurant.
We arrived as a group of 13 and were seated on the patio. Our server, Chelsea, was absolutely amazing. She was attentive, friendly, and incredibly organized — she got every single order right, which is no small feat with such a large group! Her energy made the start of our evening feel warm and welcoming, and the food was also genuinely delicious. We were all impressed.
When the patio closed at 9 p.m., two more friends arrived, and since some of our group had already left, we decided to move inside where there was enough space at a table. That’s when the tone of the evening changed. At first, we were told they’d try to find someone to serve us, but after a while, we were just… ignored.
Eventually, when the two new guests approached the staff to ask if they could place their orders (they were the only ones planning to order at that point), they were told by Jen, who we later found out was the manager on duty, that they would not serve us at all. The exact words were: “We won’t serve you. If you’re hungry, you can go next door or to any other restaurant.”
It felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive — especially after we’d just had such a great time and spent a significant amount as a large group. The contrast between Chelsea’s outstanding service and the experience inside was stark and frankly left us all feeling unwelcome.
This review is written not to complain, but to highlight both the excellent work of staff like Chelsea, who deserves to be recognized, and to raise awareness of how much one person’s approach — especially in a management position — can change the entire...
Read moreWe went to this pub for a dine-out, and from the moment we arrived, the experience was off. As soon as we sat down, they offered some drinks for the kids. My 2-year-old was given a small glass with a big straw, which she tried to pull closer, causing the drink to spill. I asked the server for some tissues so I could clean up, but he just cleaned it up himself without saying a word, showing no smile or effort to engage in conversation. His rude attitude and unwelcoming demeanor made the situation feel awkward.
To my surprise, the staff didn’t come back to our table until we called them to place our order. The entire experience left me feeling uncomfortable, and honestly, it felt somewhat racist and uninviting. After this, I’m left wondering whether this place is truly kid-friendly or immigrant-friendly. I don’t feel like visiting any pubs in Halifax after such multiple ...
Read moreI hadn't eaten since breakfast, so I was super hungry. You know sometimes when you are really hungry almost everything tastes really good? That didn't happen.
I ordered the Philly Beef and fries. It said it was a garlic toasted bun, it was toasted but no flavor of garlic, shaved beef, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms (I asked for no mushrooms), cheese and gravy. Normally a Philly beef isn't on a hamburger bun, but this one is. The bun was nice and warm from being toasted. But there was no flavor, not even in the beef. The pieces of green pepper that fell out didn't feel grilled at all. Barely any cheese if at all cause I didnt see it when I looked for the gravy. Which then made it dry. There was no gravy even for dipping. Fries were fine. I also find prices are high for the...
