From the moment you walk into Fifth Chute it is abundantly clear that this is a very special place. Absolutely all of the goods (sourdough bread, scones, cookies, squares, muffins, pies, pizzas, sandwiches, flavour syrups, almond milk, etc.) are made from scratch in house. The available retail items are carefully hand picked ensuring good quality, local products. The space itself is magical; located in an old, well restored building with many cool, original features set on the bank of the Bonnechere River (the views are incredible). And to top off this already ideal place, there is a strong focus on permaculture, the arts, and community, not to mention genuinely kind, helpful staff. My favorite coffee shop & bakery ever ! My husband and i have traveled all over North America and this is hands down our favorite little cafe we've been to. There espresso is so smooth and delicious, the sourdough bread has the perfect crust with a soft interior that doesn't make you bloat after eating it , the baked goods are all soo delicious and the staff are just the sweetest , always so kind and friendly.
