I want to love this place so much . Itâs in a great location nestled in the heart of Eganville . The roof top patio has amazing views of the Bonnechere river ! As such it breaks my heart to have to leave such a negative review . Every time I go there I am disappointed with the service and the food . Maybe itâs just the roof top patio ? As I remember eating inside during the winter and it was better . That was before Covid though, so maybe new staff ? Service: I waited 10 mins ( the patio was half empty and there were four servers at the bar ) to get asked if I want something to Drink and then waited 20 mins to get my first beer . There were people that were seated after me that got served first - tells me the staff isnât organized . The waitress was openly complaining at the amount of people on the roof top âŠ. It was half empty. There were four servers standing around chatting and texting under the sheltered section of the roof top bar . While I was waiting for my beer, I can see they are taking their time pouring - maybe two beers per ten minutes and all of them were on their phone texting and socializing with each other - rather than taking care of the folks on the patio . Food - I have had the pizza, wings and steak and fries in the past year . All come out cold , overcooked or greasy with no crunch and very under seasoned . Really bad and over priced - especially if you know what good food is supposed to taste like . The steak is 26 bucks for a 6 oz . It is essentially a fast fry steak - less than 5 mm thick. I asked for medium rare and sautĂ©ed mushrooms and onions which is 4 dollars on top of that . The steak came out way overdone ( like boot leather and full of grizzle ) and the onions and mushrooms were not cooked down at all . It was basically like eating raw veg with no seasoning . I was able to substitute fries for onion rings , they too were cold , soggy and greasy . As for the patio, for a place that gets full sun on the roof top , youâd think they would put umbrellas out in all of premium seats next to the view of the river - there is one umbrella on one of the five tables that have the view of the river ( which is much of the reason people stop in for ) as such people quickly scoop up the seating for shade and then move seats to where umbrellas are once someone leaves . Thatâs fine - I donât blame the people but I do blame the restaurant . What I found distasteful was that the wait staff were actively rushing people along , verbalizing that people are waiting for your seat ( again it was half empty ) it took over an hour to get two beers and dinner - but when I was done I wasnât even asked if I wanted anything else just told â Iâll get your billâ -which was the quickest thing I got that visit - it came within minutes . I still tipped because I know how tough working in a restaurant is . I didnât complain the entire service at all , as I feel bad doing that to the staff . But I gotta say - each time I go itâs not a great experience . I am hoping these guys will up their game because it really is a...
Read moreUnfortunately, this establishment claims to be accessible. I wonder which demographic they are referring to when they say accessible? We recently visited the restaurant with our family and one member is 90 yrs old and the other member uses a cane due to medical issues and to access the restaurant is a major issues to walk to the entrance. No wheelchair accessible doors (no push buttons to help the person pushing a wheelchair from the front entrance). There are steps to access the washrooms which does nothing for a wheelchair or a person who has physical disability. The dining area was less than comfortable for our party of 5 and two members required space for disability access from the next table. Our server was very patient and did do her best under the less than "accessible" conditions so I do not blame "Courtney S" for this experience.
The prices were on a high point for many items and we were charged for a small portion of tartar sauce despite ordering fish and chips. They sent a small portion of coleslaw and no tartar unless we paid for it. Every fish and chips restaurant and even chip truck provides this as the side dipping sauce that I have visited and my son has this as his staple when eating out.
I think this establishment requires safety upgrades to ensure they do not exclude any members of our society. We should be accommodating our elderly and our persons with physical and mental disabilities. If this was your own family members trying to spend a nice evening out and reviewed the website to find they are accommodating as "accessible" only to find out they are totally less than advertised, I would hope this would be posted for others to know and not be caught in a very awkward dining experience. Exiting the restaurant was a scary experience based on the gaps in the ramp and sidewalk and the doors to exit had to be held by someone. This can be a fire safety issue with anyone using a cane or wheelchair and requires to leave the building in a hurry.
I will not visit this establishment again unless they can live up to a safe, secure and inviting...
Read moreI understand that servers have "off" days, but our experience was more than just "off"... Firstly, we were told (at 12:30pm), that they were out of most of the mixes for alcoholic drinks. I suppose that could be understandable. My fiancé ordered a Pina Coloda, and I had water since they couldn't make me a virgin daiquiri. However, when I ordered a Gluten Free pizza, and my fiance ordered his chicken meal, the waitress only brought out the pizza when it was ready. I could tell my pizza wasn't gluten free, since it was so thick, so we waited for the waitress to return. 15 minutes later, when she came back to check on us, we asked her for my fiancée's meal, and to confirm that mine was GF. She said we only ordered the one meal, and mine wasn't GF. She took the pizza back, and told us that our true orders would be out in 2 minutes. Surprisingly, they were. The food was tasty enough, but the waitress left us disappointed. Finally, when we went to pay, we noticed that the waitress was drinking the remaining Pina Coloda from my fiancée's drink - saying that it was just the mix from the blender, and that they add the TEQUILA to the glass itself when they make the drinks. As a bartender, that made me question quite a few things. I hate to leave a bad review, but this was a bit much to leave unsaid. We had heard good things, and were hopeful. But we left highly...
