Mum's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Brandon

Do you ever just go to a restaurant and you’re just blown away by how bad the food and customer service is?

That is the experience we had at Mum’s Family Restaurant in Brandon. The food was very under seasoned (no seasoning in their burger patty, it’s literally only ground beef formed into a patty). The pork chops were very undercooked and the fries were soaking in grease.

Instead of offering to make my burger right or replace it they said that’s how they are and gave me seasoning salt (which didn’t help at that point). We have eaten there before and it was never like that.

They asked to replace my husband’s pork but it was tasteless and undercooked and at that point he didn’t want to eat the pork. We wanted another option but that was a no.

They left us sitting while the food got cold and ignored us while rudely talking about us around the corner. I only got help when I had to ask for a server to come over. That’s when the staff was rude again and said the owner had to come down which took 20 minutes.

After waiting we explained to the owner what happened I was wary of letting them make me more food at this point. The owner offered 50% off the bill. I said fine and we would never return again.

There were so many times when this could have been made right but the staff didn’t seem to have a clue about how to handle the complaint. It’s really too bad because the food and service was always so good here. We just won’t be returning because of it.

Gross. My fiancé and I came here on our way back from a road trip because it had good reviews and we were very disappointed. We ordered classic breakfast. This should be the easiest thing a cook who enjoys their work should know how to do, but this breakfast was bad. The bacon was the precooked bacon you get at any chain restaurant, and my fiancé’s hash browns werent even cooked, they were pale and soggy. I ordered the “potato pancakes” that were the exact same hash browns they use at Tim Hortons. I had thought they were going to be homemade potato pancakes. Anyone who says this place has “good homemade” cooking, is full of it. The servers weren’t even friendly and never offered us water either. For such a nice looking restaurant and it seems there is some nostalgia associated with this restaurant, they should really try a bit harder to give the cooks quality ingredients to do their jobs with. September the 10th 2022 we came here for breakfast the pancakes in the picture were the biggest pancakes I have ever seen and the best tasting they were at least 10 inches in diameter each If you really hungry for breakfast this is the place to be. you get good value for your money. and it tastes good too. June 29th, 2023 We were there for Lunch I orded Pulled Pork it came with fries & Cole Slaw, Pulled Pork Sandwhich was good But the onion Ring on it was left in the Fryer toooo long it was tooo hard My Fries were left in the fryer tooo long as well and were to hard, I told the waitress she said ok and got New Fries they were also over done and hard So they took the Fries off my bill.
