Chaiiwala in Brantford is a welcome addition for lovers of chai as it offers signature menu items that will remind you of nostalgic street food ex. the Butter Chicken Roll, Kathi Roll, Kabab Roll, Samosa Chaat, Pani Puri, Karak Chai, food that is synonymous with street food pk or street food india.
Founded in 1927 on the streets of New Delhi, chaiiwala has nearly 100 years of history and tradition. Making chai lovers fall in love with their signature karak chai and at the same time serving both savory and sweet food straight from the streets of India and Pakistan.
Items we tried: Desi Breakfast Combo featuring Daal, Rotis, Desi Omelet and Karak Chai
Samosa Chat - This seemed like it had flown all the way from the food streets in karachi. Doing complete justice to the steet food karachi or street food bombay chaat walas. Pani Puri - This too was reminiscent of flavors of steet carts around karachi, lahore, bombay, delhi. Bun Omelet - The signature desi omelet bun was missing some sort of chutney to elevate it up a notch.
Gunpowder masala fries - The signature fries of chaiiwala of london, crispy golden on the outside and soft flaky on the inside.
Butter Chicken roll - The butter chicken roll was the highlight dish of the day - the butter chicken gravy was tangy and flavorful and we couldn't stop at just a single bite.
Double Kabab Roll - This was good, but the butter chicken roll was next level
Date Cake - The Ramadan promotion cake, was soft and moist- highly recommended
Baklava Cheesecake - baklava from Arabia meets the cheese cake from New York.
Gajar Halwa Sundae - It was...
Read morethe employees here are incorrigible. i had informed them that their uber account says they are open at 8am but my order is being cancelled by uber because its been over 10 mins and the restaurant has not accepted my order. ive called multiple times and someone finally picked up after an hour. the male on the phone told me " we've made your food an hour ago and its just sitting here, and that they actually open at 9am. ?!?!?!?! i asked if he can remake it since it will be another 40 mins and i didnt want to pay $35 for a cold chai and paratha that has been sitting there for almost 2 hours
he ignored my request and said just reorder it on uber. which i did just note i had ordered the same order 4 times and by the time the order was finally accepted on uber, it says the item is out of stock.
i called the store and when the same male picked up the phone his tone got worse. he said "what, what do you want, we've accepted the order"
i asked if if he was really out of the samosa cone because i just got a notification on uber saying they could not fulfil that item. he said we have it in stock and id have to cancel and reorder.
everyone know if you cancel on uber after a certain amount of time youre not getting that refund/food. however the restaurant is able to make changes in your order and charge you for that.
again, he told me just deal with uber then hung up on me.
you guys have just opened for 2 day and this is...
Read moreIt takes a lot to run a restaurant and a lot of money too so something like this in Brantford is quite amazing and I hope you guys do very well. Neat concept and great setup. Please do more marketing! Coupons/IG adds/ FB adds/flyers etc. The decor and atmosphere is quite cool and modern. Food is kid size portions so more of snack food which is fine because of the price but there is a big opportunity here to develop a good menu, adding things like chilly paneer, tikkas, non thick wraps, mini idlis, mini dosa, aloo tikki chaat, matar chaat, fried rice, indian patties, hakkah stuff which can really elevate this restaurant. The wrap is thick naan (not cool) Food is decent, but hated their Chai. It was brewing for hours, super milky, very bad acidic feeling after. Need to do our holy chai some justice! Make it fresh! Chai is life! Also be able to customize chai with options like less milk, more milk, strong or light, lactose free milk. I came for the chai and it was awful also serving them in To Go cups kills all the taste and essence. Maybe ceramic cups would be nice? Overall a great addition to Brantford and we all should support this restaurant!...
