Edit: this was a couple weeks ago. I posted the review originally on a secondary account but I try to keep my reviews to my main account. I'm not an anonymous person just looking to complain or blindly rate a place highly. I want my reviews to be honest and forthcoming. On with the review...
Great prices, great food, great service.
This was our second visit to this location and we were served by Tara. She was phenomenal: she checked to make sure our steaks were cooked to perfection, she was fantastic to chat with, and she wasn't overbearing or showing up when you were mid bite to see how everything was. We were here previously and the service wasn't the best, but they were highly apologetic and made up for the hiccups that time.
And $25 for steak and lobster tail is a phenomenal deal. Should be a year round menu item. Our steaks were cooked perfectly to our liking (rare vs medium) and came out at the same time, so kudos to the chef working that day! The lobster tails weren't the biggest but for the price I would definitely say we got our money's worth from the meal.
I will give you the heads-up because I didn't catch it the first time we visited, and my second visit (at a Kitchener location: see below) my friend actually pointed it out to me. They do have a policy of adding a 3% "tax" to all receipts as a way of keeping the food costs down at all their locations. I've worked in the food industry before and knowing that, as well as knowing that servers are making the same minimum wage as everyone else so the issue for tipping shouldn't be as heavy, makes me feel better about tipping in general.
I do wish it had been more obviously indicated, maybe when you first walk in, but it does make you appreciate what they're doing for the pricing of their food. They're under the same umbrella as Crabby Joe's but their cocktails are $1 less. I haven't compared other prices directly with Crabby's but from what I've seen generally from the menu, the prices are better than most sit-down restaurants, so a 3% charge doesn't make me upset in anyway.
I've been to another location in Kitchener and the service wasn't nearly as good. Just completely ignored the entire time, even getting drink refills was like pulling teeth

Read moreService was incredibly slow. Sat down was several minutes before I was asked if I wanted a drink, I only wanted water and they were gone before I could ask for a menu. Several minutes later the water arrives and I am able to ask for a menu. Several more minutes pass before the menu arrives.
I'm looking through the menu and a different waiter walks by my table and I asked a quick question, "are you wings breaded or not?", He looks at me, confused and says they are breaded, but I have a feeling they might not be. I finished looking through the menu, and set the menu down so it would maybe appear obvious that I was ready.
Then, it was a good 15 minutes watching the 2 waiters serve 3 tables of people who came in after me. Two of the tables actually receiving their food before I'd even ordered.
Initial waiter comes back for my order, a simple half-rack of ribs with fries. Nothing else. Ribs arrived in a reasonable amount of time. They were good, but not fantastic. I'd eat them again if someone said "I have these ribs from Chuck's Roadhouse, anyone want them?", But if I were doing the buying, I'd probably check out some of the competition first.
I never received utensils. Not much needed for ribs, but the utensils do chin wrapped in a napkin which would have been good after the ribs. I was eventually able to ask for a napkin, and he hopped to, got to the bar and immediately started doing something else. He only remembered the napkin when he started walking to my table to see if there was anything else I wanted/needed.
Checkout. He showed me the right receipt, but rang me up on the wrong order. The difference in cost between the two orders was 1 penny, so I didn't worry about it.
I went to the restroom to eat my hands (and face). The restroom was clean and in good condition.
Look still curious whether their wings are breaded or not. I'd also be interested in how good their steaks are. The burgers pictured on the menu looked good.

Read moreExtremely rude and disrespectful short asian owner. we have been here for many times to eat and have only had very few problems usually beford but last time will forsure be our last there. arrogant middle aged asian owner and red haired waitress named kennedy. Absolutely disrespectful and doesnt deserve even .1% of tip. horrible experience and place to go to. Maybe once there is new owner and staff unlike kennedy then the place would be awesome! also served burned over cooked fries and said thats how they turn when you let them sit for 10 minutes??? i didnt know fries could burn themselfs sitting a few minutes at your own table!!!! anyways totally horrible service and definitely needs a new owner.
UPDATE... my buddy and i went there to eat again or possibly get a replacment meal for what happened last time. The owner very rudely picked me out of the waiting line and made a huge deal and kicked me out. ended up talking in the parking lot infront of lots of other customers outside.Also ended up being called a racist from manager named crystal infront of everyone all because i referred to owner as "short asian owner" in first part of my review. owner continued to freakout on me and say that all of the staff is scared to serve me now and my mom too all because of the fries and being extremely rude even after spending hundreds of dollars and hours eating and tips there to people we thought were nice at first like crystal the manager. reminder!!! all of this started because of my review after asain owner and rude waitress named kennedy was very greedy and wouldnt accept the fact they served fries burnt to a crisp hard and ended up bringing the exact same fries as a replacment. obviously nobody would enjoy that and how rude they were towards us and i couldnt help to not leave a review towards both of them. but apperently now im kicked out and everyone is scared to serve us even the staff we thought were good people and always gave good tips.
