Tonight my family and I went to Crabby Joe’s for our Mother’s birthday. We usually LOVE going here and go there quite often. The food is always great, the staff are always kind, and the prices aren’t outrageous. Tonight when we were there we had an absolutely terrible experience.. other than the waitress everything was terrible. My boyfriend and I ordered the beer battered fish and chips with fries. The fish was good, but the fries were absolutely atrocious! They were laced with grease, black and dark brown, and literally inedible. Another one of us got the chicken parm and it was so salty that they couldn’t eat it either. We brought our concerns to the attention of our waitress, who apologized up and down for our poor experience. After we were informed that she would let her manager know we sat at the table for over 20 minutes waiting for the manager and our bill. Finally when the bill arrived we noticed that they took off about $8 from our bill.. our bill was about $170 to begin with. We were again not impressed. We asked a second time to speak to the manager.. when the manager showed up at our table we could tell right away she did not care about what we had to say. Not once did she apologize, and she ARGUED with us over the quality of our food! I had the fries on a seperate plate just to show her how black and drenched with grease they were and all she had to say was “Oh, I didn’t see those.” To top all of it off my Mother didn’t even get a desert for her birthday. When we brought that up she asked if we told the waitress it was her birthday and we said yes. She then told us we that they don’t give out birthday desserts (which is not true because we were there in Sept. and got one then). She discounted our bill further by taking off an appetizer but at that point it didn’t matter to us anymore. We ended up just paying the bill and leaving. Read moreWent for lunch at the Brantford location yesterday and had an awful experience. Was seated at 1:20pm and the restaurant wasn’t packed but steady. We did not receive our food until 2:45pm and my fiancé didn’t get his soup starter until the rest of meal came out. I had a Cesar salad to start and when the waitress finally cleared my bowl I asked about his starter and she said “it comes out when it comes out”. Nothing about checking in with the kitchen staff. I got the smoked Montreal sandwich which I had 2 bites of because it was covered in grease and very soggy. My fiancé had the steak and lobster tale and he also had a couple bites giving the benefit of the doubt but was unable to eat his meal. I asked the waitress when she brought out the meals if she could bring the bills right away so we could leave as soon as we were done. We then had to wait another 25 minutes because she was going back and forth with another customer that was not happy with the service or meal. We asked to speak to the manager because we have already spent 2.5hrs waiting for our food and bills and they were able to comp one meal but my bill was still outrageous for the poor service and quality we received. The manager told us it’s been like this since it opened a week ago and “is going downhill”. I said I would pay for this bill but we would not be returning. I was a server and understand how overwhelming it can be but my main priority was to give the best customer service to anyone walking into the establishment which we did not receive. Multiple people left and were very frustrated with the service from this waitress and many unhappy with the quality from the kitchen staff. Read moreWe visited this location on Sunday night for the first time when passing through Brantford. We came in to take advantage of Kids Eat Free on Sundays at Crabby Joes. We have been to multiple locations over the years to have this special. This was the first time I had been asked to purchase a beverage and an Entree to get the kids meal for free. It states on their website and the kids menu in front of us that you just need to purchase an adult entree. I tried to reach out to corporate through there website to clarify but the contact us wasn't working. Besides this issue, The service was not adequate. The meal took close to 30 minutes to come out. It was close to 10 minutes between when my kids food came out and when my wife and I's order arrived. They had made a mistake on my wife's meal, which the server blamed the kitchen, but after seeing the bill, she most likely made the mistake. The burger I had ordered was overcooked and charred but didn't want to ask for a new one because how long the meal took to arrive in the first place. I would like to blame the service issues on a busy restaurant, but there was only about 10 tables seated in the time we were there and none of them were larger then a 6 top.
