Swiss Chalet — Restaurant in Brantford

Theft. Unbelievably bad experience here. We are regulars to Swiss Chalet. We had our usual meal and went to pay with a giftcard. Our waitress brought back the card with a slip showing the balance. I asked if I could tip with the card and she said yes. Asked how much, I said 18%, and she took the card away. I did the math on what the remaining balance would be on the gift card so I was surprised when she came back to the table (didn't offer the same white slip showing the balance) and once I asked for the balance she hesitantly pulled it out of her apron; the balance was less than what it should've been. I called her out on it and she was flustered and said she could refund the difference-she immediately knew what I was talking about. I was so fired up I don't remember what her excuse was. She obviously didn't expect me to know how much the remaining balance would be. Anyway, that was theft. Unbelievable that she would enter more than the 18% tip and hope I wouldn't notice (by not giving me the slip and instead I had to ask for it). Really disappointed as we eat at Swiss all the time. If a manager wants to reach out, I can provide more details but the thought of a waitress taking advantage and stealing from a customer is vile. To think how many times she's probably gotten away with this makes me sick. She did give me a pack of mini m&ms which was welcomed but not enough to make the sour taste of that...

A Shame

I love Swiss Chalet and I was really looking forward to our first dinner in the Swiss Chalet in Brantford as we had just moved into the area. It was a Friday night, extremely busy and I made the mistake of asking to be seated in the bar area. It was very noisy and full of people. We are not out of Covid, but I noticed all the tables in the middle were very, very close together. It looked like there were only 2 waitstaff here. They need more servers in the bar area of the restaurant. The poor girl was running around serving too many people, she completely forgot about us. After waiting 30 minutes, I asked her if she forgot about us and she looked confused and said I'll go check - well she didn't, she came back served others and again didn't bother to apologize for the long wait or anything. After 35 minutes, the longest I have ever waited in a Swiss Chalet, we got up and left - we left money on the table for the drinks.. We had asked her for the bill, but again she was too busy to even give us one. There is a problem with this Swiss Chalet which I would say is badly managed. I will never go here again and I don't recommend this place unless they don't mind waiting over 30 minutes . I noticed a lot of reviews mentioning Natalie and Terrie which I believe are fake because not too many people know the names of their servers are only have 1 review. This is not good. I went to Swiss Chalet and ordered take out instead of going through the drive thru which had several cars at 4:54pm on Sunday night. I ordered an upgraded 9oz Roast Beef Dinner, asked how long, they said 15 minutes. 5 Minutes later another customer came in and ordered two chicken dinners. We both waited, in less than 15 minutes the second customer asked when his meal would be ready and they said minutes and he received his meal. I then asked where is mine, since I was here first where was my dinner? They said two minutes, I waited another 5 minutes asked again, again they said two minutes, I waited another 5 minutes, asked again, they said two more minutes, I said no, this is too long, I would like my money back, she said two minutes, I said no, get your manager, I don't want to wait anymore, 35 minutes was too long. All I received was a sad explanation for how they were busy. I said not too busy to serve another customer and the delivery guys and several cars through the drive thru, right, just my dinner appeared to be lost. This was the third time I went to Swiss Chalet and received poor service. I will not go back again. I could have called it in for pick up, but even then they are not on time.
