Sweet Bakery — Restaurant in Brantford

I wish I can give a zero star review. I rarely if ever write reviews but this was so bad, I have to warn people. I ordered a cake for my partner's birthday and paid extra for extra decorations. When I went to pick it up, it was basically just sprinkles and his name written in icing. When I pointed out that I paid for extra decoration, they said that it was the extra decorating. It wasn't until I pointed out I paid an extra $10 to have rosettes added to it did they finally admit that they didn't do what I paid for and refunded me the $10. It looked like something a child made. The buttercream was grainy and the cake was mediocre at best. Big disappointment. I felt bad serving the cake. It was definitely not worth $35 and it was definitely not...

Not sure if I just got really bad items or if people just really over-rate this place but I tried 4 items total and only one was good.

The brownie was okay, but really just tasted like sugar and there was no identifiable chocolate flavour at all, it also was fairly dry. The other brownie had these like caramelized corn flakes toppings which sounded incredible but just tasted really burnt, and were incredibly stale and chewy in the worst way. Like all three of us spit it out immediately. The texture was so off putting.

The lemon square was actually pretty good but, everything there was expensive enough that it wasn't really satisfying to any of us. I've definitely had cheaper baked goods that were far better, sadly.

First time I tried this bakery was last summer, where a family member brought their carrot cake to a family reunion. This was hands down the best carrot cake I’ve ever had. I don’t enjoy raisins or walnuts in my carrot cake and this is just delicious carrots and cake. With a perfect cream cheese icing. The past couple of weeks I’ve come in to pick up some carrot cake cupcakes for family events and they were a hit! Also picked up some vanilla and chocolate cupcakes. The chocolate went over well, however the vanilla was dry, dense and stale, like it was old. Luckily the carrot cake ones were perfect.
