A Candid Review of Pizza Pizza on Plains Road, Burlington
Ordering from the Pizza Pizza on Plains Road in Burlington recently was a rare decision for me, driven by nostalgia more than anything else. In the days before the rise of delivery platforms like Uber Eats and SkipTheDishes, options for late-night food were scant, making Pizza Pizza the default choice for a quick and easy meal. However, the evolution in the food delivery service industry should have been a wake-up call for Pizza Pizza to revamp their offerings significantly.
Despite some noticeable improvements—yes, the pizza was better than I remembered—it still seemed to struggle under the guise of a low-quality product trying to punch above its weight. It’s a strange feeling, realizing that what you're eating is trying hard to mimic a decent pizza but not quite making it. The franchise on Plains Road did a commendable job under these circumstances; they delivered what was promised, albeit that promise itself might need reevaluation.
Let me be clear: I don’t have a major issue with Pizza Pizza as a company. They’ve been a staple in the market, catering to a specific niche that requires quick, affordable pizza options. But in the face of changing consumer preferences and increased competition, merely sticking to the old ways seems like a missed opportunity for radical transformation.
Years ago, if I were in the shoes of their CEO, I would have advocated for a bold overhaul, much like what Little Caesars has undertaken. Little Caesars has not only introduced innovative products but also uplifted their quality—even if it meant enduring losses or just breaking even for a while. This is a strategy to placate stakeholders with a vision of comprehensive rejuvenation, aiming not just to survive but to thrive.
Pizza Pizza’s current state, serving very cheap, low-quality pizza, is a model that's rapidly becoming obsolete. New waves of eateries have emerged, offering better quality and variety, diminishing the allure of Pizza Pizza's late-night offerings. It's crucial for them to take note of these market dynamics.
The best piece of advice I can offer, and one that I hope reaches the corporate level, is to take a leaf out of Little Caesars' book—but do it better. A visionary approach could revitalize their brand and offerings, ensuring their survival and relevance in the Canadian market. Without such changes, I’m skeptical about their future presence in Canada's competitive...
Read moreAug.9.2025 - I ordered 10 pieces of chicken wings and noticed that their chicken wings were not only not fresh, but also taste like they should have thrown those chicken wings away in the garbage along time ago, but could not afford to throw them out except they had to serve them to customers. It was the first time I came to this location and noticed that this is worst place ever. Their service was also careless, if not rude to say the least. It’s the worst feeling one can experienced. It’s like a funeral feeling in your mouth. Totally sad and perturbed… I wonder how their kitchen is like. Probably unorganized, neglected and a dirty place. Come to think about this, this place needs to be checked by an undercover food inspector as soon as possible. Customers can get sick from eating their foods at this location. This Pizza Pizza location is a completely terrible and the worst location I have experienced so far. Imagine if you did not know and ordered online and experienced this kind of taste. It would be completely disappointing. This is certainly like an invitation for them to get sued and closing down their business when customers get sick and have food poisoning when they keep doing this to many customers. If I can rate this to no stars rating, I would, but then Google programmed their system to not let me post this posting with one star, so I guess 1 star to get this posting posted. So this is why 1 star is there. Please do yourself a favour. Do not buy any food from this Pizza Pizza location and be sure that when you order online or call to order, I hope that your orders are not from this location or else you are likely going to experience symptoms like food poisoning to...
Read moreIt was terrible from the time I paid until the time I picked up my pizza. I was greeted with hi and then when I was paying the employee walked away and I had to walk over to let him know I will be back in 15 minutes. He was on the phone and gave me a nod. I waited a bit longer then I ripped my own receipt of the register. I came back and when my pizza was ready I opened the box and it was a joke. No cheese and not thick crust like I ordered. I gave the employee a puzzled look and he walked away. If there's any advice I can give you is walk away from this place. This was not the first bad experience and if I return to the pizza pizza on plains it won't be my last. It seems to be run by a few people who lack any customer service and do not care what type of product they put out. I guess since I ordered thick crust they had to cut corners on the cheese to break even. If I were you I would go across the street to Dominos. Better service and better pizza at comparable prices. No more Pizza...
