This place is the greatest restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life. Anyone who criticizes this establishment is an absolute dining casual who has NO idea what they are talking about.
For example, Shawn Davidson. You can’t even form a coherent sentence yet you still leave one star. His profile picture is also very inappropriate. Reported. His review is invalid and DOES NOT count in my books.
Brendan Hyde is a local Guide yet he leaves 1 star and NO description. Not a single word or review- just left 1 star for no reason. Disappointing that they hand out local guide badges to anybody these days. His review does not count either.
Ayden Shields is mad because his nachos were plain. However, he ordered CHICKEN FINGERS. Where did the nachos come from? Seems like he is lying to me. Therefore his review does not count either.
Brooks Matthews and his snowflake of a grandson left 1 star because they felt “disrespected”. However, it is their fault for bringing a water bottle inside the restaurant. You DO know that they can give you water for free, right? How about you remind yourself of restaurant policies instead of being such a sensitive softie, Brooks?
Next, Joylyn Marie Mallari goes on a rant about how her son wasn’t “accommodated” for. How is that relevant to the restaurant at all, Joylyn? Why blame the poor restaurant staff for all your sad little problems?
Vinny Lawrence writes that his meal was the “worst breakfast he had this morning”. Yet, if that was the ONLY breakfast he had, wouldn’t that also make it the best breakfast he had that morning too? Why be such a pessimist, Vinny? Also, who names their kid Vinny?
Finally, Ray Smith. Who writes an essay about how dirty the place is. As if the McDonalds you went to was any better. Liar liar pants on fire. Notice how he has nothing bad to say about the food so you whine about the “cleanliness” even though the place is just fine. Ray you are nothing but a sad, little man.
To everyone else who rated 5 stars like me, THANK YOU for having a brain to appreciate good food and good service. People like you leave positive reviews to recognize hard work. Unlike these snowflakes who I have mentioned, who use Google Maps as a platform for their negativity and...
Read moreI moved to Burlington a couple years ago, from Kitchener, and have been struggling to find a 'mom and pop shop' similar to those of which I had frequented regularly back home.
Low and behold I came across the Skyway Diner, and it's exactly what I was looking for: Good hearty food, down to earth people, and tremendous value.
I've been here 5 times in the past 3 weeks for their $5 breakfast, and I will stand by the notion that they have the best homefries in the city, and some of the fastest service.
My only gripe came today when I was forgotten about by a waitress, and potentially ignored by another, when I was finished and waiting for the bill for nearly 20 minutes. Normally, I'm fine with this, incredibly patient, but it was that there was a waitress attending the table directly beside mine, and directly behind mine, and she couldn't bother to even ask if I needed anything, let alone acknowledge the empty plate in front of me - the 4-5 times she came back to check on the other tables.
This is unfortunate, because while I will actively promote, and recommend this diner to my friends and family, I will not be returning. This isn't sour grapes, as I did today, like I always do, tipped 100% of the cost of my meal to the waitress, but it's an experience that might help the staff in the future for customers who may have similar expectations or whatnot. I really have low expectations - I just appreciate a smile and a reasonable level of respect (which was provided), but it's purely the feeling of being blatantly ignored that has turned me off from these solo missions to Skyway Diner.
Get the $5 breakfast! Lunch is good too. There's nowhere else in Burlington, that I'm aware of, that has the traditional...
Read moreTL;DR version: My mom and I ate here together. Our server was very friendly and professional, and seems to really enjoy her work. She made us feel very welcome and valued. We were happy with our whole experience, and left happy.
Full version: My mom and I ate here tonight around 6 pm. The restaurant was nearly empty, so we were seated immediately.
Our server helped us save a bit of money by suggesting that I order the French Toast Special instead of French toast and home fries separately. The special comes with home fries, eggs, and meat, so in addition to saving money we actually got more food. Since I don't eat meat, she offered to serve it to my mom on the side, which made us both happy.
Since my mom doesn't eat gluten, she requested her salad without croutons. Even though my mom didn't specifically mention being gluten-free, the server had the forethought to ask if she could eat the garlic bread that comes with the salad. When my mom said no, the server offered to serve it on the side so that I could eat it, which we agreed to because I love garlic bread. So my mom got my bacon, I got her garlic bread, and we were both happy.
When we got our order, everything was correct (no croutons, bacon on the side, garlic bread on the side). The server checked on us to make sure we were happy. When my mom asked for more dressing, the server was happy to get it, and mentioned that the kitchen is always happy to provide for such requests, which made us feel at ease.
The food itself was quite good, too. My French toast wasn't the best, but it was good; my eggs were good and my home fries were really yummy. My mom was happy with her salad, especially once she got the extra...
