I recently revisited Popeyes on Brant and Plains Road in Burlington after a long hiatus, and my experience was a mixed bag of delights and disappointments. On this occasion, I opted to try their spicy chicken sandwich, which has been touted as one of the best among fast-food chains. Fortunately, it lived up to its reputation— the sandwich was absolutely delicious. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and crispy, and the spicy mayo added just the right amount of kick. Moreover, the sandwich was kept warm in a metal-lined bag, an ingenious touch that preserved its heat and freshness during transport.
Alongside the sandwich, I ordered the mashed potatoes, which were decent. They weren't standout, but I appreciated the inclusion of a wooden spoon, which added a quaint, eco-friendly touch to the meal.
However, not everything hit the mark. I also ordered a large portion of chicken tenders, expecting the same high quality as the sandwich. Unfortunately, these were remarkably bland. Despite their good appearance and texture, they lacked flavor, almost to the point of tasting like cardboard. The saving grace was the dipping sauces provided, which were necessary but underwhelming. They made the tenders just tolerable enough to eat. A second opinion confirmed my thoughts: the tenders had no flavor. I realized too late that I had selected the mild option; in hindsight, opting for the spicy version might have been a better choice. I would definitely recommend choosing the spicy tenders if you visit.
Additionally, the service speed was less than ideal. The order took unusually long to arrive, which was surprising given that it was a Sunday night, typically a slower evening for restaurants. Despite the slow service, the food did arrive warm, which was a small consolation.
Overall, while there were some downsides, the highlights like the spicy chicken sandwich were enough to give Popeyes my stamp of approval. The added thoughtful touches like the metal-lined bag and wooden spoon were also appreciated. However, a word of caution on the chicken tenders: ensure you opt for the spicy version and maybe request extra sauce to guarantee a more flavorful experience. Despite the flaws, Popeyes on Brandt and Plains Road still makes for a worthwhile visit for those craving a hearty...
Read moreLet’s talk about magic in a box—because that’s exactly what you get when you order the chicken nuggets, fries, and biscuit combo from Popeyes. This isn’t just fast food. This is fast flavor.
Chicken Nuggets: Popeyes has completely redefined what a chicken nugget should be. These aren’t your average, bland, mystery meat bites. These nuggets are thick, juicy chunks of 100% white meat chicken, wrapped in Popeyes’ legendary crispy, golden-brown breading. Each bite is seasoned to perfection with their signature blend of Louisiana-inspired spices—bold, zesty, and addictive. It’s like a tiny, handheld version of their iconic fried chicken, and it slaps every single time.
Cajun Fries: The fries are next-level. These aren’t just filler—they’re full of flavor. Lightly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, they come coated in Popeyes’ Cajun seasoning, giving them a savory, peppery kick that keeps you reaching for more. Pro tip: dip them in some Blackened Ranch or Mardi Gras Mustard for a game-changing combo.
Buttermilk Biscuit: Oh, the biscuit. Warm, buttery, soft yet flaky, with just the right touch of saltiness. It practically melts in your mouth. Whether you eat it on its own, drizzle it with honey, or save it to soak up leftover sauces, it’s a little Southern masterpiece...
Read moreI visited this location on March 25th. The order was 4 pieces of chicken, a large coleslaw, and a large fries. Chicken was overcooked. The skin was very hard. Meat tasted sour and the centre of the meat stank. The coleslaw was not fresh. The fries was completely dried up, and had probably been on the hot plate for several hours.
Popeye in Hamilton is notorious for overcooked chicken. I am horrified to learn that Burlington Popeye has the same problem. I am giving this location in Burlington the worst score because all of the items I ordered were overcooked and not fresh. To serve all 4 pieces of chicken sour and stinky means these chicken pieces were all expired. Either the entire batch expired on arrival or the owner kept expired chicken (cooked or uncooked) in the inventory. It is highly unlikely that any replacement from the same batch was fresh. This is a disgusting problem and upper management should carefully look into it.
I used to like Popeye a lot because Dufferin & Bloor in Toronto served the best chicken ever. They also provided great service. Popeye in Brantford also had great chicken, but their service was lousy. Burlington and Hamilton have the...
