A friend had suggested this local place nearby and we've been wanting to go for awhile. My girlfriend and I finally visited today and it was such a let down.
We ordered the combo G (dan dan noodle with wontons in chili sauce) and also an order of the soup dumplings.
Dan dan noodles, it lacked flavor and definitely did not have enough salt. I added my own salt afterwards which improved it by a bit. Wontons in chili sauce was okay.. It wasn't very spicy at all. I felt like it was lacking in flavor. The wontons itself had a good chew.
Inside our wonton dish, I saw a piece of dumpling that was part of our wontons. (You can see it in the picture clearly). We didn't see it at first. I was like wow, I get to try a dumpling! But omg.. I bit into the dumpling and by my surprise, it was completely RAW. Like.. the filling was so gooey instead. I told the waiter about it and he just apologized.
I thought they would do something more for us for that mistake. They didn't offer to comp any dish or offer any additional dishes. Simply nothing.
I regret to tip them because there was no service at all. I had to spit out the raw dumpling and I had to get a new bowl myself. The waiter did not even bring my a new bowl seeing how I just spit out a whole raw dumpling. TRULY disappointing. Pork cannot be eaten raw.
The price is definitely more expensive than I was expecting. I would rather just go to crystall mall and pay like $10 less for the same...
Read moreAfter searching the area for food, we decided to try this place. We were delighted with our choice, as the food was exceptional. It's a small shop in the North Road Plaza with limited seating, only a few tables. The double-sided menu offers a variety of appealing food items and combination meals. We found the prices to be very reasonable. We ordered combo A, combo F, and an order of soup dumplings. The food arrived promptly, and the service was great. Combo A included Mimi wonton in soup with green onion pancake, and combo F was the beef noodles soup with pan-fried dumplings (pork). The mimi wonton soup was remarkably flavorful and delicious. The green onion pancake had a delightful crispy exterior and a soft, savory interior. The soup dumplings were our favorites, incredibly juicy, and umami. The beef noodle soup was exceptionally delightful, with an amazing broth and chewy yet tender noodles; the generous portions of tender beef made the dish worthwhile. For drinks, we ordered hot HK milk tea and iced lemon tea. It was a wonderful dining experience, and will certainly be one of our preferred...
Read moreGood but can be so much better. I think what really was missing is salt and flavour.
Got the dandan noodles with wontons with chilli sauce combo. Wanted the wontons by itself since other reviews mentioned the dandan noodles are bland, but it wasn’t an option on its own. Wontons were also bland and the chilli oil was just red oil it tasted like. No chilli flakes, spice or garlic or anything so was quite disappointed and couldn’t finish it after eating 2 or 3. Since it was a combo, got a cold HK lemon tea for $2.50 to quench a craving and unfortunately it didn’t hit. It wasn’t as refreshing as I wanted it to be.
Also had the beef roll which was standard tasting and the XLBs were big and juicy but also was hard to eat with the soup in such a small take out spoon.
Water, sauce and side bowls are self-serve but was not told this until we asked.
Overall cute restaurant that seems family owned but needs some improvement with the food to convince me to come back...
