Pelicana Chicken (Lougheed Mall) 페리카나 치킨 로히드점 — Restaurant in Burnaby

My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try Pelicana before they even opened, we’re so glad that we finally tried it!

We both got their lunch set, which includes 400g of boneless chicken (4 different sauces to choose from), choice of fries/rice, a side of corn salad, pickled radish and a soft drink. It was only $15.99 per set and the portions were quite hefty.

We got the garlic chicken and the original marinated chicken. The sauce to chicken ratio was perfect and the flavours were explosive! The garlic chicken is for ALL GARLIC LOVERS. honestly, if you love garlic, we guarantee you will love this. The original marinated chicken had a sweet glazed with a kick of this unique flavour that we can’t really describe. You should just try for yourself.

Their boneless chicken was super soft and juicy. We love the fact that it was lightly battered, but maintain its crispiness. We got the opportunity to speak with the owner and learned that they have invested a lot of time and effort into perfecting their chicken. We learned that they had invested their time in finding the perfect part of the chicken to achieve the goal of serving juicy and tendered KFC. Their sauces are straight from Korea, their chicken is delivered daily to ensure freshness, and they change their oil daily to maintain the quality of their chicken.

Overall, we can actually taste the effort they have put into their chicken, it definitely tastes fresh and the flavours tastes quite similar to the KFC we’ve had in Seoul. We’re so happy that we finally found a Korean fried chicken joint in Burnaby that we can claim “Our favourite”.

Covid Protocols: Your information and temperature is taken upon arrival. Full on dividers were installed to separate tables. They also have a bottle of hand sanitizer dispenser at every table!

Pelicana Chicken is famous in Korea and this is their only location in BC (they have over 3000 locations worldwide).

Garlic - I dont like garlic so ill get my wife to taste this one next time we are here; its good though since i find the typical honey garlic sauce too sweet and this one was just perfect for garlic lovers

Snow Cheese - I like it since its unique; some places Ive been too do the same thing except with dill pickle powder instead of cheese powder snow

Crispy - most places to achieve the crispy factor; it needs to be refried and makes it more oily; i found Pelicana chicken healthier compared to the rest since i dont feel fatty or oily after consuming these

Original - Crispy with a bit more flavour

Marinated - I think its good for variety

Spicy Marinated - Now we are talking; its sweet and its spicy in its own way; my FAVORITE of all the flavors; GOLD MEDAL

Smokey or Hot Devil - Another unique flavour; Hot Devil is not as spicy but it has a hint of smoke

Hot Chili - This one is perfect for those who cant handle the Hot Spicy version; i found it mild for my taste but everyone has different taste buds

Hot Spicy - Order this one because I said so; its great!

Bonus - seafood soup is unreal; best meal of the night; (after all that beer and chicken, this was a pleasant alternative)

All in all; this place is not your typical fried chicken place; lots of flavours and variety; lively atmosphere; great cheap beers and good looking staff for a recipe of a good time

Also I found the manager (Andrew) really cared about his customers and staff

Two weeks ago, I had an unfortunate encounter here where a mix-up with our order resulted in a lengthy wait of over an hour. However, what truly stood out was the exceptional customer service displayed by the manager in resolving the situation. Despite the initial hiccup, the manager was genuinely apologetic and went above and beyond to rectify the mistake.

Encouraged by the manager's sincere efforts to make amends, my party and I decided to give them another chance. Yesterday's visit turned out to be a complete success. The manager graciously welcomed us back and treated us to two complimentary appetizers as a gesture of goodwill. Not only did they rectify their earlier misstep, but they also left us thoroughly impressed with their commitment to customer satisfaction.

The food we ordered was not only served promptly but was also extremely delicious. We got two orders of the boneless fried chicken, one with Pelicana Original Spicy sauce and one with Soy sauce. The flavors were rich, and the batter was crispy and top-notch. The spicy sauce was just the right amount of spice, and the soy was a nice sweeter flavour. I hope to try the many other sauces they offer in my future visits.

I appreciate the dedication of the manager and the entire staff at Pelicana Chicken in ensuring customer satisfaction. Despite the initial hiccup, their commitment to rectifying the situation and delivering delicious food has won me over. I'm looking forward to revisiting Pelicana Chicken in the future, confident that they have taken strides to provide an outstanding...
