Burnaby Public Library, Temporary Cameron Branch — Attraction in Burnaby

Had a disappointing experience today at the library with my daughter. In the family area, a woman came up to me while I was 8ft from my child to ask if I had any children with me. Fair enough, I suppose. When I said yes, she asked me to point out which one. A bit aggressive.

Then, she went over to the other two moms with their kids, in mind you this small family area, and made them clean up the foam blocks that are clearly out there for the children to play with.

Then, as we were leaving, she accosted two students who happened to be sitting in a family designated table, demanded whether they were related (none of her business?) Then made them move. They were quietly reading/studying and not bothering anyone, and literally all of the other tables were free.

Aggressive "rule" enforcing. Definitely made everyone...

Pros: -For readers or anyone looking to relax in the library, this library is great. -Above a recreation center and gym. Swimming included. -Friendly staff. -Good amount of books. -Cozy space -Great for seniors and youth. -Good amount of programs

Cons: -For anyone who is studying here, there is a possibility it is difficult to if you are easily distracted. There are children and toddlers running around while making noise which can disrupt your focus. Main reason why I only come here to borrow books and study in a different library. -Small. Not a lot of seats because of the space. -Not a lot of options for books.

All in all, Burnaby Cameron library is a pretty cozy place to relax...

Most Liberian are nice, few are frazzled by the sight of more than a handful of kids exist in the library and became distress while being snappy. (her words after one of her fellow Liberian ask if she wants her to go chases after the person who trigger the alarm..she just said she scanned all the items handed to her, shrugged and reply she is just frazzled at the point by the noises level from the lego club...) The only branch that has problem when we return book while it doesn't show up on their system, and it happen multiple times. It gotten bad as we need to wait by the check in counter to see them scan. The Liberian at the info desk was always helpful with a smile...
