Had an amazing time at Desi Turka with my friends! 🤩 The food was absolutely delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The Fish and Prawns Biryani were extremely flavorful, with each grain of rice perfectly cooked and infused with aromatic spices. 🍚👌 The Mango Butter Paneer was a highlight - the sweetness of the mango complemented the creaminess of the paneer perfectly, making it a dish we'd definitely order again. 🥭🧀 But what really took me back home was the Coconut Prawns Curry! It was like a taste of Ratnagiri, India, with the rich coconut flavor and spices transporting me back to the Konkan coast. The flavors were so authentic and reminiscent of home. 🥥🍤 To top it off, the drinks were $3 off, which was a lovely bonus. And the best part? They have a special deal every day, so there's always something to look forward to! 🎉 The prices were very reasonable, and the parking and transit options were super convenient. We're already planning our next visit to try their Indo-Chinese appetizers and lamb and chicken main courses. 🍴👌 Highly recommend Desi Turka to anyone looking for authentic, flavorful Indian food with great deals and a convenient location. Can't wait to go back!

I've had amazing experiences in the past however my most recent experience was not that. I ordered delivery which is usually good, decided to treat muself to an order of Gulab Jamun the taste was nothing like what it normally is from here, plus only received 2 pc for $5 or $5.50. The roti had a full burnt portion (I had already chipped off parts before realized should take a picture. The naan was flat and far too dense compared to normal times. Butter chicken was better than last time I had it tender and medium hot was grwat! Samosa where not crispy and seemed a new recipe was used however the dough was also extremely tough even considering they weren't crispy. Overall was very disappointed in saving calories and such to order this. I don't have the luxury of going to pick up so rely on delivery for this sort of thing and have enjoyed amazing food from here in the past so wpuld still recommend it at this point, though I will definitely hope for a better experience next time.

I placed an order today at 8 PM through Uber Eats, and the experience was absolutely frustrating. Out of the 4 garlic naans I paid for, the restaurant only packed 1—and that one looked yellowish, as if turmeric had been smeared on it. Because of this careless mistake, I had to reorder from another restaurant, spending an extra $25 and waiting until 10 PM just so my son and I could finally eat dinner. (I’ve even attached the other restaurant’s receipt as proof.) When I called to report the issue, the staff brushed it off with, “Next time you’ll get free.” That response is unacceptable. A customer should not be left hungry, inconvenienced, and out of pocket because of a restaurant’s negligence. To make matters worse, the Kadai Paneer was ruined—overloaded with turmeric and tasting completely off. This was an extremely unprofessional and disappointing experience. If you value your money, time, and a decent meal, I strongly advise staying away from this restaurant.

I’ve had a truly nightmarish experience with Desi Turka Indian Cuisine that I feel needs to be shared. As regular customers, we expected far better treatment.

We ordered through DoorDash and forgot to add an item. After realizing our mistake, we contacted DoorDash support, but they informed us that they couldn’t cancel the order because the restaurant had already accepted it. So, we called the restaurant directly. The staff member we spoke to advised us to place a new order and assured us that the same dasher would pick it up.

We went ahead and placed the second order, all while trying to communicate with both DoorDash and the restaurant to resolve the issue. However, the restaurant refused to cancel the duplicate items. DoorDash support reiterated that they couldn’t make any changes since the restaurant had accepted the order. At this point, I was incredibly frustrated. We had paid nearly $100, only to be told we’d receive an $8 refund for the cancellation.

When we questioned why the restaurant accepted the second order knowing we couldn’t cancel it, the staff explained that DoorDash charges them 25% for cancellations—about $15 for them. I suggested they cancel one order and adjust the price accordingly since it seemed the fair thing to do. However, the restaurant employee stated he couldn’t help us further.

In that very moment of frustration, my boyfriend and the restaurant staff ended up in a heated conversation. The next day, we received a shocking call from the restaurant owner, who threatened my boyfriend, insisting he apologize to the staff within 24 hours or face social media backlash and repercussions at his job.

This entire ordeal was not only infuriating but also unprofessional. I cannot believe how poorly we were treated as loyal customers. I usually never write bad reviews and always love supporting small businesses but after my boyfriend told me about the call he received from the owner, I couldn’t hold myself back. I strongly advise anyone considering Desi Turka to think twice—there are far better dining options out there that value...

A Hidden Gem on 6th Street – Desi Tadka Delivers a Flavourful Surprise

Desi Tadka is the kind of restaurant you could easily miss if you blink—but you really shouldn’t! We were driving down 6th Street in Burnaby, searching for a lunch spot we hadn’t yet tried, when we decided to turn around and give this little place a chance. And we’re so glad we did.

We ordered the lamb curry thali lunch special, and to our delight, every item served in the small bowls was packed with flavour—far from the usual Punjabi fare you find at many Indian restaurants across BC. Each bite was a burst of authenticity and care.

The thali came with: • A richly spiced and tender lamb curry • A deeply comforting daal • A refreshing raita with crushed cumin and grated carrots • A warm gulab jamun for a sweet finish • Steamed rice • A crisp tomato-cucumber-onion salad • And three soft, fresh naan—perfect for scooping up all the goodness

Everything was simply delicious. What made the experience even more memorable was the warm hospitality—Bindia welcomed us with a genuine smile and excellent service. And we must send our compliments to the talented chef, Humal Singh, whose cooking truly made this meal a treat.

Thank you, Desi Tadka, for a wonderful lunch! We’ll...
