I have been looking for donair places that are cost effective. Donair/shawarma places used to be the go to cheap eats but many places have raised their prices to ~$14-16 platter that it's more worth to buy other types of foods.
We stumbled upon this place. Good amounts of street parking. Take out only shop.
The prices were incredible. $10 for a regular platter. $12 for a large. We were wondering if they skimp on the meat or if it tastes bad but it definitely did not disappoint!
I got a regular salad and you can choose to add any of the salad toppings in display. There's also pineapple toppings hidden in the fridge as well. One thing good about this place is thar you can mix 2 meats free of charge. I tried chicken and lamb. The chicken has such a nice marinade on it already and it was dry like other places. Most places have a beef/lamb mix but this place can have them separate. They looked the same and I couldnt really tell them apart because beef/lamb is always some sort of patty thats been sliced as opposed to intact meat. The meat was also not dry. However, I will definitely get all chicken next time because it was so good. Another good thing is that I read some other places give you less meat if you get the salad option but this place gives the same amount. I opted for tzaziki and garlic sauce. Very generous with the sauce but not much flavor especially the garlic sauce (donair dude still has really great garlic paste/sauce).
A friend got the regular platter with extra meat. We opted for this way because we didnt know whether the large platter had more meat or not as it only says you can choose 2 more veggie options. The meat was piled high and the box was hard to close. They got a mix of lamb and beef but I still cant taste the difference.
Pricing is incredible for the amount and tastiness. This will be our go to donair place.
-edit nov 2022- Prices have gone up by $1 but still remains cheaper, tastier and bigger amounts than...
Read moreOrdered 2 Rice Box Salads from Uber Eats and was missing the 2 salads...sad :(
I uploaded the Rice Box Salad image the restaurant is using as well as what I received.
UPDATE: the restaurant messaged me back and said that the palm size side section of the container I received was actually the "salad". However, if that's the case, then the image they're using online and the way their ordering system is designed is misleading and people should be aware of this. The ordering system on Uber eats for the Rice Box Salad has a section that says, "Rice Box Choice of Toppings" (note - it says TOPPINGS, not SALAD. It seems like even they themselves don't constitute it as a salad). The toppings (limit 4) include things like pineapple, cucumber, olives. I guess, luckily, I had chosen cucumber, tomato, tabouli, and coleslaw as my 4 toppings so I had some veg. On top of that, the image this restaurant uses when promoting this online clearly shows a leafy green salad that is nearly 1/2 the size of the container. I get that the food may not always look like the image or be as big as the picture, but what if I had chosen my 4 toppings to be onions, olives, pineapple, and hot banana peppers?? In what world would this be considered a salad?!
I'll be honest, the meat was juicy and the flavor was there, but I most definitely feel swindled and is not...
Read moreWe ordered from here to give them a try. We ordered the special buy one get one free for delivery. We live 5 minutes (1.5 km) from the place. The food arrived cold! Never before in my life of ordering food for delivery, have I received it stone cold. You could tell as it was a delivery and the menu special on top of that, that they didn’t care about their service at all. They probably didn’t expect me to leave a review. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was spit on the food…but I didn’t check. This place will not see me again.
Of course the owner will blame the Uber Driver. The driver was here within 5 minutes of picking the food up. And he had a food bag to keep food warm. The food was cold when handed to the driver. The driver said he could feel no heat coming from the container when it was handed to him. Instead of apologizing and making it right by offering a free meal, this owner chose to be argumentative and combative. How...
