Picked up Pupusas and spent 70$ worth. Got home, they were all darkened, burned, dry, not very good tasting at all. My family goes there every now and then so I was happy to order pickup.
But this time was surprising. I tried calling back for days, voicemail always full , couldn't leave a message no social media. Finally got through today, I wasn't received with patience, I was even passed off to someone else without cause and met with a passive agressive tone, when all I wanted to do was kindly let them know to be careful in checking food when it's pickup, because quality should be assumed by customer picking up. Especially if the bag is so TIGHTLY closed. (I wasn't going to rip apart all the bags and packages infront of them and inspect each one.
I was asked why I didn't drop the food back, but i was already 25 km away thay day Sunday. They were also closed the next day and tried calling for 3 days etc etc.
All I wanted was to let them know, but apparently because the cook lady has been cooking for 14 years , she didn't believe me it could be true. So she placed blame on me for not taking a picture and coming back ..
I guess I wasted my time by even calling to let them know, because no sorry, no, hey thanks for calling, nothing.
My parents, family and all won't be going back because of the poor quality of food...
Read moreThis food is foreign FIRE! I had flavours I had never tasted in my life here and it was like I was on a mini vacation to Central or South America. My taste buds were definitely enlivened.
I had the Mondongo Soup which is a beef tripe soup with potatoes, and I found chunks of meat and other veggies in there too. Whatever it was, all I can say is that it was delicious and authentically foreign to my taste buds. It came wirh flavoured rice which was delicious, a slice of avocado, a corn patty which I used to make a taco with the contents of the soup/stew, and the most amazing hot sauce ever! It tasted like a fresh pureed mix of garlic and hot peppers with a zesty zing. Totally enhanced the soup meats and veggies which you can scoop out and eat with the rice. They also give you a lime wedge to squeeze onto the food giving it a nice sour edge.
I even tried an apple soda which tasted like apple cider on steroids.
Come here if you want an authentic central/South...
Read moreThe food here was pretty good, although it was my first time trying Latin American food and had no prior to comparison. They also had some great upbeat Latin American music going on and gave a very local vibe.
My two recommendations would be the ajiaco as it was packed with flavour, was the perfect portion and left me feeling really content. Second would be the empanadas de queso, but I’m a cheese lover so I may be biased. My friends really liked the patacones, but I thought the plantain flavour could’ve been stronger and it was really crunchy and oily. The empanadas colombianas was okay.
Only thing that lowered their rating was their lack of service. Although there were only 3 tables, the server was on her phone quite often and didn’t pay any attention to water refills or anything we needed, we had to go to the desk...
