A unique experience in terms of dining.
One important thing to note first and foremost is that the restaurant no longer serves all you can eat for one price due to COVID-19.
This is just to clarify for anyone who wants to pay one price and eat until full. There is no longer a buffet style all you can eat. I was a bit confused at first expecting a self serve style buffet however upon arrival, that was no longer the case.
The atmosphere here is peaceful and quiet, nicely tucked away in a thick forestry area along Marine Drive in South Burnaby. It is situated on an Hindu Temple ground - serving religion oriented food and philosophy.
The restaurant does not have a set menu, but rather serves omakase style - meaning the chef changes up the menu on a daily basis.
For approximately $15, one can expect a very hearty and ample lunch thali - all ingredients grown right on the temple ground's own organic food garden. Great value and healthy.
The cooking is light - but I prefer to use the word 'Gentle'. Light on fat, seasoning and zero processed ingredients. All made with much love.
It is a meal fit for Gods and commoners alike.
The community and people working here are simply amazing and kind.
Come here to nourish your tummy - but even more importantly, to...
Read moreWe had ordered lunch back in July’22 the lunch combo were amazing and since then I wanted to visit in person and try the food through dine in. I visited for dine in on March 4th between 2.30-3pm. We ordered the thali which had fusion of soup, Manchurian, noodles, rice and soya curry shaped in a form fish. I asked the prabhuji who assisted us what it was to which he didn’t respond. First bite and it felt weird as I have never consumed meat and avoid eating anything that tastes or resembles the same. That was a big turnoff, the curry had soya shaped in fish curry pieces wrapped in possibly seaweed as I didn’t receive any response to what it actually was and based on what I saw and tasted. And being a member I have had prasadam in India and I understand and appreciate the efforts everyone tried to put here in Vancouver but please refrain from imitating something which isn’t appropriate. Satvik Bhojan doesn’t have anything that resembles meat dishes. This has been a big...
Read moreEver since Govinda’s Dining reopened earlier this year, I’ve been meaning to go check it out. It was only a few weeks back that I attended a socially distanced toddler birthday party on the spacious patio/grounds of Govinda’s. An all vegan and gluten free Pan-Asian menu was carefully curated, on request, by Chef Bamon. Boy, was that meal amazing! Then a week later I had their veggie burger take out, ordered by a friend, and once again I was blown away by the flavour palette. Their in-house buns were baked to perfection and their veggie bean patty was out of this world. I loved it so much I knew I just HAD to go back the next day. It was their Sunday South Indian Special, so I ordered myself the full combo and couldn’t resist ordering the veggie burger again!! THAT’S how much I loved it. I’m hooked!
The cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and of course their daily delicious menu will make anybody become a...
