A few of us came here for the first time based on the positive ratings. The Korean foodies that were with me felt the food was above average at a great value. We ordered the following with ratings out of 5 stars (1 star being the worse to 5 stars being the best)
Gom Tang (slow simmered beef and bone marrow broth with noodles and brisket) – 3.5 stars – just enough flavour at $$13.95 Hot Stone Pot Galbi Bibimbap with 3 side dishes (assorted veggies with prime beef ribs in a stone pot) – 4 stars – slightly cooked the beef too long as it was a bit tough to chew. The best part was the crispy crunchy rice that is stuck to the bottom of the stone pot. Tasty at $19.95 Black Bean Noodle (diced pork & veggies in black bean sauce) – 3 stars – small pieces of pork. Not wowing at $11.95. Original Korean Chicken (deep fried chicken in Korean style sweet chili sauce) – 5 stars – big pieces of chicken that was tasty and cooked to perfection. Sauce wasn’t too hot. Good value at $28.95.
For the regular dishes and certain dishes, you received small side dishes that would accompany your Bibimbap or Gom Tang. No one was in the mood to try Korean BBQ mainly due to the price. Not all of the dishes arrived at once which was too bad.
You can make reservations. There’s limited parking in front of the restaurant but plenty of street parking on Imperial. They’re open 11 am to 11 pm. The place seemed to be the locals favourite. We doubt...
Read moreMy family and I decided to try out this Korean restaurant on Imperial (near Kingsway) for a weekend lunch with our young kids, expecting a nice and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, our visit turned out to be very disappointing due to the terrible attitude of the staff (especially the lady with an arm tattoo) and the unequal treatment we received.
The restaurant was not busy at the time, yet the lady with the tattoo displayed an extremely negative attitude towards us. This was in stark contrast to the way another table of Korean patrons (we are not Korean) at nearby tables were treated. Not only did they receive more attentive service, but they also got a greater variety of complimentary kimchi dishes. It was very disheartening to see such discrimination, especially considering that we were there with young kids. I asked the 2nd round of kimchi's and was only sent two dishes. And for the 3rd time, we were refused kimchis because she said our order was not enough. Hey, we ordered $30 CAD dishes for each of us already!
I have never been this angry after dining at a restaurant. The poor service and blatant favoritism ruined what should have been a pleasant family lunch. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this place to others. There are many other Korean restaurants out there in Burnaby with great food and, most importantly, respectful and...
Read moreWanted to give 3.5 stars. But willing to give bonus 0.5 for the service. So 4 stars it is.
Man is this place busy. The staff are busy doing their things. All the tables are occupied. We checked in at 20:00 on a Friday night.
The environment looks nice and clean. However it's a little smoky from all the grilling. Advise not to wear nice clothes to any BBQ restaurants. The noise floor is on the louder side. May be difficult to have a normal conversation
The main dishes are decent. Not the best that I had. We ordered Beef signature combo, pork belly, seafood pancake and some other dishes. Not sure if it's a BC things, the pork has a strange tatse. Found that lots of restaurants have this issue. I like the side dishes - those are excellent. Especially the sweet potato. Man are they good.
Service is great. Our waitress was attentive, sweet and kind to us. Did a good job on explaining the items on the menu and communication to us about our orders. No complaints 👍
Food delivering time is a little slow compare to the other restaurants. Probably because the kitchen is too busy today... Other than that our waitress did her best to serve us.
Would I come back? Probably not for the BBQ. The dipping sauce isn't the best. But want to come the other items...
