Always loved JJ beans and I still do. One thing I have a problem with is one of the barista was very dismissive. Don't know his name, never asked. He is a medium length hair brunette. I add half and half to my coffee and noticed there was just a bottle of half and half on the counter not in a tumbler or cooling container. The soy, almond and pay milk had their own thermos but not the half and half. I asked the barista if he had one that was cool he bluntly said no. I said well it's risky to have dairy that's been sitting out for some time. He was short with his response and just said no. I get that he's busy and maybe he's not having a great day but it was a near empty bottle so it's definitely been out long enough to be near empty. I wasn't trying to be difficult and I think not wanting to drink spoiled dairy is valid point. His solution is you can have the other milk alternatives. At that point I don't want to argue but I mumbled under my breath that I don't like the milk alt. He then said "you're fine. Just for you here is a new bottle". Opens up a new bottle. I said I'm just concerned about how long the milks been out and I think it's a valid concern. I don't want myself or anyone to get sick from spoiled milk. He just kept saying you're fine you're fine. What is this, am I inconveniencing him? If they didn't have enough thermos and they want to prioritize the other milk alt then maybe keep the cream in the fridge or over ice. Or at least explain sorry we don't have enough thermos. Why...
Read moreI've been going to the Burnaby Library and grabbing my latte from JJ Bean every weekend lately. Funny story: the first Saturday, I ordered my latte and paid a tip (even though it was takeout), and they made my coffee in a reasonable time. The next day, I wanted takeout again and didn't pay a tip. They didn't seem to care about my coffee. After 15 minutes, I asked about my order and was told they forgot it. They gave me a card for a free coffee next time. The following week, I showed the gift card and waited again for 15-20 minutes. I asked why, but got the same excuse that they forgot it (it was Saturday). The next week, I intentionally didn't pay a tip, and they once again didn't seem to care about my coffee, making me wait between 10-15 minutes.
I don't understand why some workers see tips as a must. My question for these folks: would an engineer in a company expect a tip from a client? And my request to JJ Bean workers: do your job. If you're not happy with your salary, that job isn't for you. Leave the position for someone who will take care of business and respect customers. TIPPING IS NOT A MUST,...
Read moreVery unpleasant customer experience this morning. The cashier missed items for my order. When I found out and told them, they said I didn’t pay for missing items. Well I just tapped when I paid, so I didn’t actually know. Not to mention the details that I ordered coffee first, checked bakery and ordered bakery. How careless they are to miss my bakery??? The most important thing is they keep making excuses (like “oh something it’s hard to hear”) without saying sorry and taking their own responsibilities. There were only a few customers in store on a rainy Tuesday morning. How loud the background noise it could be? I’m angry with their attitude. One star for coffee only. I live close by but I won’t come back!
This is the time when I realize the difference between a local shop and a brand name: I never had such experience at Starbucks. Plus I know there is customer service if I need any help. However, at this local store, nobody cares customers’ feelings. There is no customer service and they don’t even bother to train their staff properly. So profit-driven (no to mention the mandatory...
