A wonderful treat.... Have passed this restaurant thousands of times living in North Burnaby but can't recall ever dinning here, so the other night, my wife and I decided to, on the whim...and we were not disappointed. Arrived without reservations which wasn't a problem early one Wednesday evening. The place has a nice, cozy, comfortable aura to it and we were greeted with a warm welcoming. Our hostess Meghna was a delight..friendly, courteous and helpful with our questions. We ordered glasses of wine and their Prosciutto e Mozzarella and the Insalata Caprese salad to start with and share. Both were very good..Fresh, flavorful and plentiful. Once finished, our entre's arrived. My wife had her favorite, Spaghetti Alla Carbonara and II had my fav, Linguine Alla Vongole. Both were excellent. Sometime, some places can't quite get either quite right..either too oily or not enough creme or such, but they got both just right. One of the best Carbonara my wife has had and my vongole was right on... Kudos to them for that..!! Oh we had plenty for dinner, so only finished off the evening with a couple of Cappuccino's. A regular one for me and a Deaf for my Mrs. Those too, were very good... So all in all, we had a great evening...great food and great service from Meghna. We will certainly be back...
Read moreThis restaurant never ever disappoints. We’ve had many family dinners here and Francesco and his family are the best! Such a warm inviting atmosphere, it really feels like home. The food is always on point. The gnocchi is homemade clouds of perfection. Everyone at our table tried something different as there were so many pasta’s to choose from, it’s hard not to find a favourite. The main dish selection offers many veal options to choose from as well as classic options like chicken parmesan & steak. Seafood options are delish, like the linguini with clams & the prawn appetizer…. Both are absolutely perfect with bread to scrape up all the saucy goodness. The antipasto platter for 2 is a regular on our bill! The classic tiramisu is always on the menu for that sweet ending to a delicious meal. I’m happy to say it’s hard to find something bad to say. They were able to accommodate our large party reservation at short notice with an already packed restaurant. If you’re lucky enough to throw a function here your guests will leave happy, satisfied and full! I recommend this restaurant for a quick dine out with family or for a...
Read moreAuthentic Italian food with good flavour. Portions are OK yet I felt the value didn't match the experience as much as it could have. This little place has been around for a long time and this could be their saving grace with longevity and loyalty.
I've stated before in other reviews that it's getting expensive eating out. Probably because of high fuel costs and just general inflation. Restaurants will have to step up their game if they want to keep their doors open. Since I travel the province for business, I eat out all the time and have noticed an interesting pattern develop.
What I've discovered is that menu items of mediocre restaurants have gone up in price and are now on par with the higher quality food items of better restaurants. They invariably may suffer bad consequences when their customer base catches on to what's happening.
These smaller independent restaurants have a key role in communities and they must not rest on their laurels because the corporate monsters will (pardon the pun) eat them alive!
Anyways, I digress! L'Arista has charm and eloquence. I will go back because their food is...
