A must-go ice cream place in Burnaby!
I’ve heard that this particular Soft Peaks was just opened recently, and there’s another one in Vancouver. I live nearby, and was craving for something sweet; so I was like, hmm, why not?
I fell in love with this place when for the first time I stepped in. It has a very humble look at it is way more better from the inside! Wide and clean space with bright lights and minimalist decors. It’s perfect for a friends meet-up, a date, or basically a place to study, since it’s pretty quiet.
This place offers you a great selection of ice cream as well as milkshake. They know how to name to flavours to intrigue customers. I went for the Gastown as I love tiramisu, and it sure did not disappoint me!
Service was great! The cashier aka server guy was very friendly and welcoming. He waited us patiently when we were picking the flavours, and he ensured we were all happy witth our decisions. He sure had an upbeat personality than was shown through his positive vibes.
I’d say it was not that pricey as many people said, as the cup may look small but it was full of yummy ice. It was not that generous, but it was quite affordable.
Overall, great food, great service, great ambiance. 5...
Read moreSoft Peaks is one of the hype Instagram ice cream shops and that's the only reason I visited. The atmosphere is welcoming and modern and has plenty seating areas such as tables and benches. There are plenty of drink options as well but most people are attracted to their magical looking soft serves with unique and plentyful flavors for everyone. The complaints I had with this place was regarding their high price (which can be argued for their rich ingredients such as organic Avalon milk etc). I wouldn't mind paying extra for high quality ingredients but when the portions are as small as they are you feel let down. Additionally, Soft Peaks seems to prioritize aesthetic rather than taste, for example, the Snowberry soft serve was topped with tidbit sized strawberries and the Mudslide soft serve was overflowing with Timtams (which didn't taste fresh); there was no balance of flavours, it was either too much or too less. Another thing I noticed was that they don't mention the kids cone (the black ones) on their menu which is significantly cheaper (get those ones) for almost the same amount. It was worth knowing what the hype is for but I...
Read moreSoft Peaks recently opened a location across from Metrotown carrying their signature organic soft serve ice cream with cool toppings. Their new location is actually quite spacious inside and I was surprised at how quiet it was (I think I was the only one there during my visit and it was a day before the first day of summer).
I opted for the Green Forest ($6 for a small) with an organic milk/dark chocolate twist (love that you can specify the type of soft serve ice cream), dusted with matcha powder, topped with sweet red beans, and drizzled with condensed milk.
While it’s been a good three years since my last visit to Soft Peaks in Gastown, I have to admit that I’ve missed their soft serve and this is a great addition to the Metrotown area. It’s a bit expensive for soft serve ice cream but it’s worth it to splurge every now and then.
Update: November 2024 - I can't believe it's been 4 years since I last visited Soft Peaks. When I heard they had a black sesame soft serve special, I had to come visit. Midnight mochi crunch, organic white grain brown rice crisps, brown sugar syrup, kinako powder, and shiratama mochi - it...
